Northern Leasing Systems Send numerous harassing collection letters, won't respond to dispute letters, unlawful debt collection practices New York
I am continuing to receive debt collection notices for a debt at Northern Leasing Systems that I do not owe. I have disputed the debt directly with them via US Certified mail and requested that they validate the debt according to Section 809 - Validating Debts of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. After more than 45 days, I have still not received a validation of the debt.
Instead, I continue to receive invoices that demand payment immediately. Some of these invoices have "made-up" fees, such as "invoice service fees", made-up beginning balances, and hilarious monthly fees. Beware of this company! My experience has been that they will not respond to disputes, nor will they actually sign the Return receipt requested form issued by the Postal service. Use delivery signature required instead of RRR if mailing a dispute letter to this company. I have asked that they cease communication with me on this debt since it has not been validated--yet, they persist... I have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, and I am also sending letters regarding Northern Leasing Systems to the Better Business Bureau, the Banking Authorities of the State of Texas and New York, my Attorney General, all four credit bureaus, and of course Ripoffreport.com!
