Today (September 27, 2010) I opened my mailbox to discover a letter addressed to me with only a return address (no name).  Upon looking up the address I have come to find out that this is an apparent debt collection agency.  I have thus read the letter to find out this is for a debt that I do not owe.  In December of 2009 I received a letter regarding this very same debt from a company called Capital Management Services LP.  I had contacted Household Bank (the apparent person to whom this debt is orignally owed to) in December 2009.  I had spoken to a CSR named Kasmir and she could find no record of any debt owed to them by me.  She then transferred my to her supervisor Kareen who could also find no record of any debt owed to them by me.  I then wrote a dispute letter to Capital Management Services LP regarding such debt and requested said proof from them about this debt or to close my account and remove any and all negative information from my credit record.  I have NEVER heard back from Capital Management Services LP.

By law when you file a dispute regarding a debt that company/person is under an obligation to prove to you, in writing, that you owe such debt in a reasonable amount of time.  If they cannot do so the have to notify you, in writing, they cannot prove the debt and have to close the account and remove all negative activity from any/all credit bureau(s).
