I have received 2 letters from the Northland Group Inc., they claim to represent a bank I had an account with approximately 5 years ago (at least). When I first received the initial letter I called to rectify the situation.

I spoke to a gentleman who became increasingly threatening and abusive. When I tried to verify the accuracy of the information he had he kept asking me, using a very unprofessional tone, if "this was what I did", inferring that I was consistently irresponsible with my bills and that I needed to "grow up and pay my bills". I asked that he converse with me in an appropriate manner, that he was not to address me as if he knew me personally. He flat out refused and told me to "stop playing games and pay my bills" I asked to speak to his supervisor and he flipped out and became really rude.

I contacted a lawfirm online which had the Northland Group listed as a problem firm, and most probably not "on the level". They suggested that I write them and ask that they desist in contacting me by mail or phone. I have now received a second letter asking me to contact a different person, a woman, and I don't know if I should just throw away the letter or to be concerned.

I have never had any communication from the bank I am supposed to owe money, which makes me very suspicious. I know that I don't owe them money, but this sort of thing causes one to second guess themself. It is frustrating that groups such as this use intimidation to trick people into paying them money.
