There are several people going by different names that run ads in local papers (Chicago Tribune) for a job at a company called Novomatic, based in Germany/Austria. THIS IS A JOB SCAM- DO NOT BE TAKEN IN!- They call you to say you have been selected for an interview (in my case without even having sent a resume- warning bell No. 1) and they want to fly you to San Diego for an interview- and you have a choice to use their travel agency - which means you have to pay half of the air fare by sending them a Western Union money gram (Warning Bell No. 2) or pay for the ticket and they will reimburse you when you get there (Warning bell No. 3- strike 3- they're out!) - and when I checked air fare rates and said I could do it cheaper, the destination changed from San Diego to Ft Myers, FL. I checked rates again, called them back, and he said he was waiting for the other candidates to call back with their information (why should that make any difference to me?) and after 5 calls back to this guy Steve Melrose (who has several aliases - all with the first name Steve- I guess scammers have a hard time remembering all the fake names they use) they have yet to call me back. So I checked the web and sure enough there are LOTS of complaints about scams for jobs at this company. DO NOT get caught up on this scam!
