NSS Magazine/Chase Visa rip off

I checked a box for a free magazine on a promotional card that came with my credit card bill and stuck it in the mailbox. NSS was supposed to send a postcard at the end of the promotional period. They did not send a card. Instead they charged my credit card $34.00. I never gave them the account number but because they are a "vendor" for Chase Visa they are able to get a charge placed on my account.

When you call a number given for NSS on the card statement, you are routed to an automated answering system that asks for an account number that doesn't exist.

When you call Chase Visa (and go through the hassle of their automated service) and finally talk to a live person, you are immediately switched over to an NSS representative. You are then given the opportunity to cancel the subscription and get a refund in "two or three" billing cycles. That remains to be seen.

Chase Visa is fully aware of how this scam works because they participate in it. If you have a Chase credit card account, beware of anything free.
