What a scam,

My wife got an e-mail stating that she won a camera, all she had to do was pay for shipping and handling for a total $3.97 by entering her Credit Card (CC) or Debit Card (DC) #.

A few months later we start receiving TV. Guide and Car & Driver magazines. Not a bad choice to send but My Wife and I did not place an order. We did not even receive a letter or bill to contact the sender. Next we start bouncing checks. In researching the cause, I found a $63.00 charge on my account. We called the bank and reported the unauthorized charge on the card.
The fact of the mater is that because of another fraud by some "Government Auction Subscription" company back in September of 2001 we canceled the card. Of course we bank with Wells Fargo and there answer was to call NSS Magazine and cancel the subscription. Even though the card was canceled 3 months earlier and we would have to get the credit from NSS .Well the problem with that is we cut up the card after reporting the first fraud back in September. NSS Magazine requires the CC or DC card # for it's automated system. I had to have the bank make the call because they can not give out the Card # over the phone.

NSS Magazine set the transaction for a reoccurring pre-authorized charge so that if you cancel your card it still gets pushed through and charged to your account.
