Three free issues? Sure, sounds like a great idea. Your did say "free"... right? I'm sure our daughter would like to get Nickelodeon... and hey, how about Discover, so she can enhance her education?

Three years later AFTER the "free trial", we are STILL receiving magazines. Of course, our daughter has outgrown the kids' magazine... and our coffee table and bathrooms are full of printed material explaining how to split atoms and do your own painless root canals, but how do we get them to STOP?

At no time did I offer a credit card number. At no time did I relinquish a billing number. At no time did I agree to endless pages of mailbox-jamming material. And at no time did I contemplate the charges repeatedly appearing on our bank statement.

Calling the toll-free number on the bank statement is a lesson in futility. The only time you get to speak to a human is when he (in my case) offers the FREE trial magazine subscription. NSS is in a class with other companies that prey on unsuspecting people who have the misfortune to answer the telephone at dinnertime.

Lesson learned? If it's free, run away... run FAR, FAR away, as quickly as you can. I've been paying for FREE for much too long. And the magazine subscription prices are not reduced, my friends. Add insult to injury, we're paying for the Full Monty!

Beware. Be alert. Be rude if you have to be effective. But say that you already subscribe "at the office". Get rid of ANYone offering a free ANYthing. This can't even be compared with "Buyer's Remorse"... I never "bought" anything... unless you consider the line I bought about "FREE"....
