Do not go to this modeling agency simply because it's run by rude and arrogant agents who really don't give a crap about their models unless you're 5'10 blonde hair blue eyes and 120 lbs. If they tell you otherwise, they're lieing. I have been called for an interview by them and so have FOUR of my other model friends who are in the same boat as I am. Thankfully, we weren't STUPID ENOUGH like other girl to pay the $150 portfolio+$280 web fee+ $300-550 photoshoots+ $225 industry prep+ $450 acting workshop. Do your math, it totals over $1400. Of course Tamica and Dan say that it's "NOT MANDATORY" well since they are shady as hell, they will only submit you to their highly respected clients if you take those classes and get a "proper portfolio". They obviously won't admit it, but that's the fact unless you're 5'10 blonde hair blue eyed and 120lbs, anything less, forget it. I'm not the only one complaining, I've mentioned that I know FOUR other girls who think the same as me that Tamica and Dan are shady and untrustworthy as hell and will do ANYTHING to make money. I guess Dan is getting a little bit excited and cocky after his model were on the real housewifes of Vancouver. Your fame won't last too long. It's funny how they just opened their Vancouver agency in October and they already have complaints, is that sad or what? Shows what a great agency Numa models is. They also have a facebook page and blog to showoff their talent. They have interviews with over 20 girls/guys a week or even more than that, and out of 200 girls, only one actually gets a job. What happens to the others? THEY GET SCAMMED. They pay the one grand and never hear back from them, and if they do its "get a better portfolio" and you pay more money never to hear back from them. You get your own photographer, the photos are crap. Use your brain and have some self respect and don't go to this agency, take your talent elsewhere. Only 2% of models actually get jobs from the agency, as a matter of fact, their client list sucks. Dan/Tamica always brag about some Adidas/Sportchek contract they got a model, guess what, it's that one model out of 100 that got the job. You must be seriously stupid to take a risk with $1400. Go take the money and go on vacation. Bet you Tamica and Dan do that with all the money they ripped off the models. Take Care and don't get scammed. Use your intellect.

Not Much Work

To be quite honest, I love Numa - their philosophy, their legitimacy and the people that work there! I had my marketing materials and I appreciate the fact that they didn't push me to do more unnecessary photo shoots so I have to pay more.

BUT, I'm a model and I wanna work! :) and they aren't giving me much. So, even though I love Numa, I do not find it to be a well-performing professional modeling agency just because neither me nor other models that I know are signed up with Numa are getting enough paid work. If you are doing modelling as a hobby, I would recommend Numa.

All that said, I haven't tried another agency here in vancouver for modelling. so, my comment might be a bit biased :) because there's no comparison, but it's my experience and i thought that i need to share it so it might help some aspiring models out there.

Misunderstanding

#3Author of original report

There was a misunderstanding from my part regarding the agencies policy and some of the information that I wrote isn't accurate. I was in an emotionally unstable state of mind which is why I wrote certain things about Tamica and Dan that isn't true. After talking to Tamica I have realized that I had a misunderstanding of what was expected of me. I apologize greatly to both Tamica and Dan. There was a communication error and it was my fault for not talking to them directly about it. Numa models is a great agency which books models for numerous local and international jobs and has many satisfied models. Dan and Tamica work really hard to serve their models and the part about them being "shady" and "rude" is not true. I only said that because I was upset over a minor issue. They are great people and I don't stop models from going there. Definitely, give numa models a try. I wasn't in the right mind frame and I apologize for any inconviniences caused. After talking to Tamica directly, I understood what a kind hearted and understanding person she was by solving the misunderstanding in a peaceful and calm manner. There was a huge misunderstanding. Sorry from my part. Once again, Numa models is a great agency and Dan and Tamica are hardworking and trustworthy agents. There are many models who got jobs without paying a single cent, I didn't know this and I was being ignorant in that sense.
