O P R Developers student housing ripoff of security and false claims as EXIT TAX Syracuse New York
OPR developers own appx 40 multi-family structures and caters to student housing. Allegedly they have what is known locally as an "EXIT TAX" whereby students lose a portion or all of their security deposit of one month's rent when they leave at end of the school semester.
Additionally when rent is late by a few days (which happened to me ONLY ONCE in three years because of long distance mail delivery) THEY LIE AND CLAIM TO allegedly FILE AN EVICTION NOTICE only to deduct appx another $100.00 from your security for "filing purposes".
The despicable practice may be multiplied by +/-40 houses x 2 or 3 apartments per house x 3-4 students per apartment. Someone is getting rich here on this practice;
When called on this practice, you either will get hung up on, or be put on hold for an eternity. When the girl comes back on the phone, it's always the same answer. "The boss isn't in right now".
It's too bad the university officials do not get involved. To try to sue them in small claims court is basically futile, as most exiting students live hundreds of miles away.
I probably will never see my money back but I WANT TO WARN OTHERS of this EXIT TAX STATEGY TO GET RICH QUICK!!
