I would steer clear of these rip off artists. I saved up my hard earned cash for 6 months so I could buy a big screen TV. A buddy of mine suggested I go to a few pawn shops in the area since he found good deals for other items. I'm thinking great idea, save myself some money.

Well, I came across a nice 52 screen plasma TV at Oaks Pawn and Jewelry and spoke to the store manager Clint regarding the condition of the TV and he assured me it was good to go. He turned it on to assure me it was in good working order. It seemed to be fine.

So later that day I came back with a borrowed minivan (I drive a civic) and loaded it up. I get home set it up and everything seems to be fine. The next day I was having a birthday party and planned on showing some home movies. Well, I go to hook up the DVD player and I can hear the movie but not see it. I figure it was the DVD or the player. I then try hooking it back up to the cable and get the same result.

I ended up calling Oaks Pawn to see if they have the manual (for troubleshooting) and pretty much got the cold shoulder. They offered no help in looking for the manual and flat out refused to take the TV back as a return. They did not offer to give me store credit either (which I suggested) after I asked to meet in the middle, they said, once I walk out with it, It's your problem.

They seemed to be accusing me of abusing this thing in transitwhy would I not be careful with my new TV? I went back and talked to them, some guy they called Shorty (although a funny guy) in the end told me to get lostI walked out and now am enjoying my 52 paper weight. Moral of the story? Oaks is the place to go if you want to get ripped off! Seems I'm not the only one.

Oaks Pawn and Jewelry's Response to These False Accusations!!!!

#2REBUTTAL Individual responds

Tue, October 21, 2008

First, I would like to say that any of our customers know this is not how we conduct our business. If there has ever been such a situation, we handled it the best way possible and made sure that in the end our customers were more than satisfied.

We have spent years, working to become a customer-driven company and are very dedicated to making every customers buying or pawning experience comfortable, convenient and the most satisfying experience possible.

We would truely love for the two people who are responsible for these "false" reports, to come forward and show the proof of the item that was purchased and that we were were unwilling to resolve the situation. As the Store Manager, i can personally say that i have never sold a Rolex Watch and had a customer come back claiming the watch was a fake. On top of that, i can promise we have never escorted or kicked anyone out of our store as mentioned in the first report. In reguards to the second report i can promise we have never told anyone in our store to get lost.

If these reports were true we would have made the situation right for the customer, however we are not even familiar with these two situations. As the Store Manager, i can guarantee this statement because i am the individual that has to deal with these issues.

We are sure that these reports are being written by a disgruntled ex-employee or an individual who is trying to make personal attacks against either the owner or manager and trying to do so through these fasle reports at the store.

once again, i would like to say that any of our "REAL" customers know that we have an outstanding reputation throughout the community and know that the accusations in these reports are not how we conduct our business at Oaks Pawn and Jewelry!!!!

We would absolutely love, and challenge "ANGRY BUYER" and "BIG JOHN" to come forward and let us know who you are and the apparent problems you hold!!!!!
