I opened my usual monthly Qwest bill in February and found a bill from some new service provider called OAN Services, Inc. The bill was for Privasafe 1xEmail setup of $13.34

I called their 800# to let them know I never ordered or received these services. I was assured the charges would be dropped.

Needless to say, imagine my frustration when I opened my March phone bill and found not only the original setup fee of $13.34, but also additional charges of over $15.00 for that months services(what services?), added for a total of over $30.00

Again I complained to no avail. I also called Qwest but they were unable to help.

Help- I don't know how to stop this rip-off!!!

Hello,
Since I have had first hand knowledge of this kind of activity, I will tell you how to handle this. First call Qwest back and ask for the Customer Care Dept. Then Ask the representive to "recourse" the charges for OAN. You may get a run around here as the process is kind of a pain. If the rep absolutely refuses to do the recourse then ask to speak with a supervisor. Before the rep puts you on hold make sure to get his/her first name, id number and what city they are in. This tends to discourage "eternal hold" while looking for a supervisor. The supervisor should have no problem doing the recourse.

Now this will only send the charges back to OAN and get them off your Qwest bill. From there most people never hear from them again but it is possible that they can bill you seperately or send the charges back to Qwest. Then you will need to file complaints with your State Atty Gen office and hope it gets straightened out.
Good luck
