I received a $14.33 charge on my phone bill for "USA VOICEMAIL" that they said I authorized online. This is impossible because it is an emergency only number and exactly 7 people have it.

In 20 years I have never authorized ANYTHING to be charged to my phone bill other than local, long distance and dsl regular fees. After being placed on hold by OAN Services for about an hour, they came on the line and told me about this supposed internet authorization, and gave me the number of USA Voicemail.

After some time on hold with USA Voicemail, they finally agreed that the charges were not authorized and gave me a confirmation number for a forthcoming credit, which i still have not seen.

I accept some of the responsibility myself for not having third-party charges blocked from my phone account in the first place, but to me it is the equivalent of putting a block on my physical mailbox. Imagine having to maintain a list with your postal carrier as to which envelopes he/she was/wasn't allowed to deliver to you? To me this practice of billing things to phone bills other than phone company charges is just as absurd.
