OAN - West Star Telecommunication RIPOFF Charged for collect call from Mexico that was not received Northridge California
In my Verizon phone bill this month,I noticed a charge from OAN Services stating that I received a collect call from Mexico on 7/29/2005. I called OAN Service and explained that it was impossible that this call was accepted because I was not home on that day.
The woman at OAN Billing Services said, "your answering machine must of picked up and that is the same as you accepting the collect call." I told her that I was not paying for a collect call that I did not authorize. She proceeded to say my name(which is spanish)implying that I accepted the collect call.
Once again I told her,"I was not home on 7/29/05 and I do not know anyone who lives in Mexico." I was told, "regardless if you authorized the call or not that you are responible to pay for the call."
If I do not pay for the call it can be sent to a collection agency, affecting my credit. How can these people get away with this?
