When selecting a moving company, avoid Oasis Moving and Storage at all costs! They are dishonest, rude, and unprofessional. Unfortunately, I did not read the dozens of negative reviews you find when you google this company, because Missy, the customer service rep who booked my move provided me with a good better business bureau rating and other seemingly valid accolades. In reality, Oasis is not accredited by the BBB, and holds a D+ rating. This is much too high for their abominable lack of service! I agree completely with the details of every negative review posted.....I encountered the very same issues - being forced to sign a "recission" of my original contract upon arrival of the pick up - which oddly, was a ryder truck??? (This was red flag number 16 that this company was sketchy.) The movers refused to load my property into the truck without this signature, which stated that I agreed to an additional $500 charge because I had given a false estimate. I balked at this recission, and was forced to sign (virtually under duress as all of my property was in the lobby of my apartment because the movers arrived at the end of their "window" - the day I was to end my lease.) The mover assured me that it was merely an insurance for the company in the rare case that my property exceeded the weight estimate. Five days later I received a call from Oasis informing me that my property had weighed in above the estimate, for the very convenient amount $504.....
I was told my property would be delivered within 14 days. Then it became 14 BUSINESS days, excluding holidays. Then when they were late, Oasis conjured a bill of lading that extended them 30 business day window in which to deliver.
Do not be fooled by their kind and helpful customer service reps. Immediately after your move is booked and you have provided a deposit, everything changes. Deposit and first installment upon pick up are accepted in the form of cash, personal check, or any major credit card. Suddenly, once your property is in their warehouse for an indefinite period until they get around to delivering (expect a minimum of a month) they can only accept cash or postal money order. Does this tell us something? After they force you to sign away hundreds or thousands of dollars above their initial contract with you, and are holding your property, they require a fail-safe form of payment. It is obvious they have had their fair share of cancelled payments - and justifiably so. They will not even accept a cashiers check - not only are they dishonest, but they are unintelligent in their practices.
I have been lied to by EVERY SINGLE representative of Oasis, from customer service, to warehouse, to management. The consistent excuse is that this is the nature of moving industry. Evidently Oasis policy holds that if the moving industry as a whole is corrupt, they are justified in their dishonest business practices.
As I have not yet received my property, I have little hope of actually recovering all items that were sent with Oasis, and if other reviews are an indication, I can look forward to anything of value being damaged or missing.
Oasis Moving and Storage is a prime candidate for a class action suit. I have never had a more negative experience with any business. I would not trust Oasis to move my recyclables, much less my valued possessions.
