Oasis Moving Or Oasis Movers C/o Budget Vanlines Read the contract BEFORE making ANY deposit to these people, then pick someone else! Dallas Texas
I wish I had found this site BEFORE I moved. The deal started simple. They offered a complete FULL SERVICE PACKING and DELIVERY. For every moving company I've moved with before, that means the movers pack your stuff, transport your stuff, deliver your stuff and unpack, reassemble and place your stuff. Not with Oasis. The Oasis rep said "no, full service PACKING, unpacking is different." I thought that was odd, but I let that pass.
The first rep sold me full service move including 25 boxes and two wardrobe boxes. two or so days later one of the sales reps called me back and read off to me the agreement stating 25 boxes and 2 wardrobe boxes. The crew arrived, it was just two Mexican guys. I'm not going to be politically correct. I know the differences in cultures. So, that's not a problem. However, one guy pretended to know no English. I think Oasis uses "the language barrier" as an excuse when they mess something up.
Throughout the entire time they were at my place, the guy who pretended to barely know English stopped every 5 minutes or so to ask, "what in here do you want to go?" I had to keep responding, "Yes, get everything, I'm moving. Pack it all." Neither of these two were professional packers. They just threw my stuff in boxes paying no attention to what went where. They didn't label or sort anything. So living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, chemicals were all mixed together. They were just two guys driving a truck with a trailer, expected to pack (without screwing up).
10 minutes AFTER THEY JUST PICKED MY STUFF UP in Kansas for the move, Oasis moving called me to tell me that they were coming to pick my stuff up tomorrow. I had to let them know that their moving guys have just ALREADY collected my stuff and have already left. I had to call the guys in the truck to come back, because I noticed that I didn't have a copy of my contract/receipt. They said oops we forgot to give you the moving receipt. I found them a couple of blocks away and followed them back to my apartment parking lot to get the receipt. I drove to Atlanta that Sunday from Kansas. It took me one day, but during that day Oasis called my girlfriend's phone (listed as my alternate) to try to confirm again that they were coming to Kansas to pick up my stuff. Confused?
They were nice BUT broke EVERY ITEM I KEPT that wasn't clothing or dishes. I have a 7 foot shelf that is missing a leg, a $200 office chair that is now broken, a standing fan that is now in pieces, a glass office desk that is missing screws, feet and other parts. In the packing, I found my energy-saver light bulbs(the expensive mercury-filled ones) in the bottom of boxes that contained my computer printer(with a scratchable-breakable scanner screen) and 15 and 20 lb STEEL WEIGHTS (dumbbells packed on top). Its like placing a gallon of milk on top of a loaf of bread! They had me PAY for the 25 boxes and two wardrobe boxes even though they only brought about 10 and all of the other boxes are boxes I had at my place already from my last move. THERE WASN'T EVEN ONE WARDROBE BOX.
When I called the sales claims processor she said to me that there was no record on the contract of any specific moving material. HOW COULD THE REP THAT CALLED ME BACK HAVE QUOTED THE MATERIAL IF THERE WAS NO RECORD? Someone is lying and covering up after the fact. I was told to call the movers themselves (the Oasis Moving manager) to file a claim. He said "sure no problem, its 60 cents a pound for damaged items". Lets see; a $200 office chair weighing around 20 to 35 pounds at 60 cents per.... $21 for a $200 item! What if they'd broken my $7 light bulbs or my 46 inch $600 LCD TV? That only weighs about 25 LBS. I swear to God, if that were the case I would take them to small claims court! The only reason I dont have broken dishes, is because my girlfriend refused to let them touch them, by packing(and boxing) them herself.
I almost forgot... When they arrived in the Atlanta area, they were about 3 or so days later then they said they'd be, but the manager gave a believable excuse about a tire blown in a construction zone. When they delivered, they did so by dropping off all of my stuff still in boxes in the front room of my new apartment, blocking access to my hallway, kitchen, and the front door itself. They unpacked nothing! What the hell does full service mean? And, what's the alternative? There were also several items that weren't even mine. That day I had an extra trash can, an attachment for a treadmill which I don't have, and even an office toner cartridge(ink for a large business printer), valued between $300 and $600, still in its brand new sealed wrapper. It might have weighed about 5 Lbs. You know what that means! When I first called to inform them of the mistakes and damages, they sent the movers back to collect the extra items, but didn't process a claim for the damages. Instead they told me to call the office.
AVOID OASIS MOVING! THEIR CONTRACTS ARE CRAP! THEIR MANAGEMENT IS CRAP! THEIR MOVING LABOR ARE NICE GUYS, BUT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING! OASIS WONT BACK OFF EVEN WHEN THEY ADMIT THEY'VE MESSED UP! THEY SCREW UP, YOU STILL PAY FULL PRICE!!!
STAY AWAY!
Oasis. If you see this, please freaking sue me!!! I will be happy to see your sorry business in court and BRING YOUR BULLCRAP MORE BAD PRESS! Maybe then you guys will clean up, or GET OUT OF BUSINESS!
