Beware of sending your Dogs to these Dog Handlers in Atchison Kansas owned by Billi Lawrence and Nancy Haugsness AKC Obie's Chinese Cresteds. I was referred to these Handlers by another Chinese Crested Breeder. We all met up at the South Dakota Dog show the last week of October 2008.

I took two of my dogs for them to evaluate and at the end of the show they took my Dogs home with them to start training for the show ring. After 3 weeks they called me to inform me they did not like my male Shooter because he was too small but thought he was perfect for the three days they were with him at the dog show.

When he arrived home he was emaciated and covered with Staph blisters along with being filthy and covered in urine and feces. I immediately contacted Nancy and Billi as to the condition of my dog and demanded photos of my other dog in their care. They said I should be getting a show win photo of my other boy Bandit since he had won a Major. The photo arrived and he was a bag of bones in the photo.

Along this same time some other Crested breeders were demanding photos of their dogs that were also in Billi and Nancy's care to be trained and shown. When one breeder owner of Baldpark and another owner of Trinity Chinese Cresteds received their dogs back their condition was horrible. They were emaciated and covered with Staph and sick to the point of almost death.

Mean while I was doing every thing I could to get my Bandit home. They delayed me several times with one excuse after another and when he finally arrived he was half frozen thin and filthy. They sent home to me in the dead of winter to South Dakota with out bedding or clothing. They abused my dogs and stole my money to do it so do not let another dog suffer as mine have at Obies.

There have been 4 reports filed recently, 2 on the 9th, one on the 15th, and one on the 17th. Are there any others before this you could direct me to?

As skin conditions are common in hairless crested's and owner's are quite often battling them in some form or another, how are we certain it is not just something that happened? Granted, an owner/handler/breeder would or should be better aware of how to help prevent some of these issues than the average person.

Is the picture of bandit on outlaw's site the picture mentioned in the complaint? It does not show the handler's face :-) but it is a person similarly built to the ones on Obie's site pictures of wins. The win was also in December, and Bandit would have been in the care of Obie according to the timeline described in the post it seems. How could a dog in such deplorable condition win a show? How would a dog that was overly thin and in general poor condition get best of breed while in her care if that's the case? Why is there a picture of a dog that you believe to be in poor condition proudly displayed on your website (does not actually be in poor condition in the picture to me either)?
I saw you ship your puppies with sweaters if you believe it necessary. Could this just be a result of a difference in beliefs? Clothing can cause some potential problems when not worn under direct supervision (and additional worries in breeds that are known to be on the breakable side like I.G.'s and Crested's whom also happen to be temperature sensitive like a leg somehow getting tangled and a break or something ending up happening). Some of us are bigger worry warts than others :-).

The pictures are not posted yet. Was Bandit or any of your other dogs transferred from another handler or someone's care other than yours to Obie's? Why was there a decision to transfer if so, and was there a question of whether or not the dogs were receiving proper care in that case?
I am not saying I believe anyone to be wrong or right. I'm just asking for some clarification. BTW, I am glad that Yukon and Jessie are now doing great. I was a previous visitor to your site for other reasons. Well, I'm off to the other reports now. *just my opinions*

Outlaw and three others that are "Friends' if that is what you would call them have come together to try and ruin my reputation. I have shown Chinese Cresteds for 12 years and have many many champions to my credit.

It would take a book to rebut all of the lies told but judge for yourself. I have sent in photo's of Bandit the one with urine stained and fecal stained feet. Bandit was pulled from another handler because of the poor care he was given and at the time I took him he was severly underweight, had not had any sunlight due to the fact that he was very pale and had tons and tons of pimples.

Here are photos of him taken right before I got him and then one day before he left. You decided.
