Occidental Vacation Club Luis Breton Cancellation not permitted Dominican Republic Nationwide

I was approached to attend a 90 minute presentation about joining Occidental Vacation Club. Everyone was so polite, and nice, while they trying to get me to join their club. I purchased a "membership" while on vacation in Dominca Republic. The company promises large savings on vacation stays and airfare. I reached out by phone and emails way before a month time, and expressed to them I wouldnt be able to be part of there membership. I wanted out before starting my monthy payments. I told them I had just bought a house and joining had been a bad choice on my part, and would not be able to do the monthy payments. I have not used any services yet, and they have a big problem refunding my money. I will also never stay at an Occidental property again.
Mr. Brenton's exact words throught email were:
We have received today your cancellation request.
Unfortunately your cancellation does not apply because you took 1 month to do the request
We cannot accept your cancellation. We strongly advise you to continue with the payments. Any default in payments will result in a bad credit report in your country of residence and will spoil your credit score also.
Attached I sent you the promissory note that you signed with us, we glad that bought a house but this some that will not affect the payments of the house because the monthlies payments are US$ 116.32. You knew that you have this membership with us and that you owe us US$ 1,771.00.
This is not an excuse to cancel the membership.
All the kindness and politeness went out the door when I tried to cancel. Do not join this "membership" they are a scam. They just want to make money off you. I would've understand a fee for early cancellation not this. He must think I am dumb and not educated. This will not be on my credit or give me a bad credit score. People dont join this club. I plan to spread the word in many other ways. Even bringing them on the news. I went online and saw many other complaints. They will not be getting another dime from me, but they will get more bad exposure.
