Responded to a mailer/coupon to have HVAC ducts cleaned for $39.99 + SR discount of 10%.  Tech, Sean, arrived. went to attic and then told us we needed to have one of the ducts to the outside closed off.  He also recommended a "lifetime guaranteed filter that was washable" when asked the price he stated "expensive".  At this point we had also asked what would the cost of the repair be and he told us he did not know.  This should have tipped us off but we were lulled by the initial cost quoted in the coupon.  If this had been a bigger job, we would have made sure we had a contract before the work began and after this experience, we would check this site and his contractor's license which is suspended!  He proceeded to do the work (I am going to have a reputable company check to see what was and was not done) and when finished an hour later presented the Invoice that also serves as a contract.  The total cost was $430 and my elderly husband signed the contact after the work was done and wrote a check which was quickly cashed 2 days later!!  The cost was bothering me and so I looked at the bill and saw that they charge $220 for deoderant and biocides which the back of the contract stated they discussed with us and gave us the data sheets - of course not done!  I have talked with the office manager, Sharon, who stated there was nothing that she could do.  She later called back and wanted to discuss further because I had stated that I was going to report this to the BBB (which has already given them an F rating).  She has not contacted me.  I have now reported this company to the CA Contractor's License Board. the BBB and Rip Off Report.  After I get my job evaluated, I intend to contact the City of Aliso Viejo and County of Orange to see if anything else can be done.  I know $430 is not a huge amount but this company has been ripping people off for much more and are still in business.  Seems like we should be able to do something about it!!!
