Complaint Review: Ocean Side Dental

First of all they lied to me about the exam being free. It was payday so my husband had his paycheck but we hadn't cashed it or anything yet because literally got off work and flew to this office. Besides they had told me the exam was free so i didn't worry at all about the fact we didn't have any cash on us. Turns out the dentist started a procedure on me after taking a look at my badly infected tooth (which was why i had come in) without telling me what they were doing or that it would cost me money that day. When the office manager realized he was doing this procedure on me (I cant remember what it was called but my tooth had a hole in it and air was getting to the nerve which was making it hurt badly so they were filling the hole with something temporary until they could fix it) he made them stop in the middle of it while my husband ran out and cashed his check so he could pay them up front. He was SO horrible and rude about it he made me cry in his office. Wouldn't let them finish the procedure until my husband got back with money (and btw what dentist takes orders from some low class office manager anyway? but this one and his assistant sure did). So when he got back with the money they finished and made an appointment to do a root canal on the tooth. He said it would cost 900.00$ but that I could finance it. He did not say this nicely however, he made me feel like I was some filthy person who wanted something for free or did not plan on paying. I was crying when I left with an appointment to come back and pay him another 100$. Now I am not rich but I have a job and always pay my bills. I came back and they did the first half of the root canal, which I had been told would take two visits. I paid the hundred and although that office manager was still rude and nasty to me when I was making my appointment for the next time (because I wasn't sure I could afford another hundred dollars in just another week. I mean that's a lot of money all at one time) but I decided i could come up with it because I needed the root canal done so badly (the tooth hurts something awful) I scrounged and saved and borrowed and paid my call phone Bill a week late just so I had the money to come back a week later and guess what, I was told at that point (AFTER he had my money) That the dentist who started my root canal wasn't there that day and this appointment was only for this other dentist to check on the tooth and that they wouldn't actually complete the root canal until I had paid them all 900 dollars. OMG it was terrible! The dentist prescribed me antibiotics but wouldn't give me a painkiller ( I think maybe he has gotten in trouble in the past and cant write them to be honest, but I have no proof of that, just my conjecture). They said the dentist who had actually done the first part of the root canal would be able to prescribe me something. When i told them i wasn't going to be able to come up with another hundred dollars right away the office manager said "No problem we will push your appointment back till June." OMG I HAVE A HALF FINISHED ROOT CANAL YOU HORRIBLE PERSON! When i (crying again) asked if it was safe to go that long with this procedure half done he shrugged and said you would have to ask the dentist that i just manage the office. So, upset and wondering what the heck i was going to do (and my husband barely able to hold back from beating the crap out of this guy) i filled the antibiotics and low and behold they make me throw up nonstop (which I told him from the beginning some antibiotics do to me. Not to mention what non stop puking does for the pain factor in my already very painful tooth. I can barely work because the screaming pain in my mouth all the time.) So i called and asked them to please have the OTHER dentist, the one that actually started my root canal to send a Rx for an anti nausea med and painkiller to my pharmacy. I was told sorry he isn't in and wont be for another 5 days. But just stop taking the antibiotic if its making you sick. WELL no kidding Mr office manager i already did that after 2 days of puking my guts out but this means I have a vulnerable tooth and no medicine to make sure this infection isn't getting worse. He told me to call back when the dentist would be in. So I called in today and guess what, he wont write me a Rx, even just for the anti nausea med without seeing me again. And guess what, they wont see me again without another 100 dollars. I am 10x worse off than when I started going there and out a lot of money. I unfortunately have to keep going until this root canal is done but when I get insurance (in another 2 months) I will NEVER go back to them for ANYTHING and I will tell everyone I know and meet how awful this place is and NEVER to go there because they do not give a crap about PATIENT CARE at all there. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Rating of F with better business bureau, 14 complaints against them with bbb. beware!
