Late last fall, as soon as Arrow Financial lost thier class-action, my collection account was sold to Ocwen Financial. They have called to harrass at least 5-10 times a day. When we stopped answering unknown name/unknown number calls, they stopped leaving messages on the machine.

About two weeks ago my husband spoke to the collector, who freely gave out everything on the account. Never asked for permission, just took it upon themselves. They have also called other family members in our town and gave out the same information. None of the "important business matter" actually telling the amount owed and threating my husband with court/lawsuit etc. Now this is my account. My husband was never on the account. I happen to be aware of third-party disclosure laws so I know what they are doing is tenious at best by revealing all to my husband.

My husband told the collector that we were unable to pay before the 14th of February due to paychecks having to pay the rent first. The collector attempted in every way possible to trick my husband into giving a checking account number to bank withdraw it themselves on that day. However, we are smarter than that and refused because we knew that the minute they had that information they would take the money, charge us with a bounced check and likely attempt to withdraw the full amount.

My work schedule until the end of last month was very early in the morning until early evening (7 or 8 at night). I had not returned calls to them because I was not home and no one left messages. A couple of days ago (the 7th or 8th of Feb) I actually answered the phone because it rang as I hung up from calling someone else. The person was rude, HEAVILY accented so I knew it was the one who spoke to my husband last month. He claimed that the deal was to pay them by the 30th of every month and that we were in default and they would accept no payments from us unless we paid in full. This amount was over $900 according to them, however when last dealing with Arrow in fall of last year, the account had a balance of less than $600. $300 in service fees and interest added in only 3 months! I informed the collector in a rather rude manner (actually having to interrupt him several times becuase he would not accept that the deal was for 2/14/2005 not 1/30/2005. Finally I got through to him that the first call was recorded by the answering machine because we picked it up during his only message to us. I guess he figured the machine clicked off but because we answered a different phone it did not. Not only that but the pay off amount was $450 (about what Arrow had offered in November).

I am sick and tired of thier attempts to collect well over the amount that the account balance and thier unlawful threats against my husband.
