Ocwen Loan Servicing Unresponsive and unfair to homeowners in finanancial difficulty West Palm Beach, Florida
Here it is in a nutshell........My loan was purchased by Ocwen in 2006. At the time I was gainfully employed and able to make the HIGH mortgage payments that were required to maintain my home. In 2009 I applied for the Obama approved affordable home mortgage plan. To make a long story short, my mortgage payment was reduced $100.00. Talk about a rip-off!!!!!
Anyway, in March of 2010, I was laid-off from my place of employment and I notified Ocwen of my status. Since then, as I have read from some earlier comments, I have yet to speak to an American on the phone. I have submitted my financial documentation 5 TIMES without a return phone call. The only calls that I receive are from Ocwen requesting payments!!! I am two payments behind in my mortgage and but for the grace of God have been able to make the third payment every month to avoid foreclosure proceedings.
I have written to the Ombudsman section on their website with no response(the Ombudsman site says they will respond within ten business days) That is a load of BS!!!! I have never spoken on the phone with the same person twice and the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing there! Nobody seems to have records of all the phone calls and paperwork that I have sent to them.
After all of this BS some east-indian finally told me that I do not qualify for the HAMP program because I had Obama's modification in November of 2009. I tried to explain that I have been currently unemployed and that my $1060.00 monthly unemployment(Arizona's maximum benefit no matter what income level you were at) benefit hardly allows me to pay my other bills much less my mortgage payment. I was then told that I would qualify for Ocwen's in house modification...more dupilcate paperwork. After several fruitless attempts to find out whether or not I had qualified, I was told that my case was under review and that I would be contacted.....This was in July 2010....It is now September and still no word. Finally, after several more phone calls, I was told I did not qualify because of my low income.
I was told to wait until next year and re-apply. In the interim, I guess that I will just lose my house to foreclosure. The biggest problem is that you can't get any explanations from anybody there. Their slogan is "Helping Homeowners is What We Do." That is a load of you know what!!!!!!
The continually send me certified mail regarding my past due account status and charge me for this as well......Looking at my bill I see charges for a home inspection fee.....What is this? Also $117.00 for a property valuation expense?????
I recently received, from Ocwen, a letter that says that they are helping the unemployed under a new Presidential plan but once again they want all of the financial documents that I have already submitted 5 times....Go figure!
I have currently contacted a company called Take Charge America. I have an appointment with them on Monday, Sept., 27th. After speaking with them on the phone, they appear to have had some success with dealing with these idiots. However, I was told that the process can take up to a year.
Depending on what happens, I will report back here as to the end results.....You can get the phone number by calling HUD or by going to the HUD website.
I wish any other unfortunate homeowner in this position the best and hopefully we can win one for the little guy/gal.
