ODesk Another victim of the ODesk scam Internet
I sincerely hope that the relevant authorities catch up with the operators of ODesk and put an end to the misery they have caused many users like us. We were ripped off for tens of thousands of dollars by a number of contractors who completely misrepresented their abilities. Additionally we discovered many of the contractors were either fictitious or just plain lied about the work that they did. Some contractors managed to notch up large chunks of time whilst doing nothing. ODesk has no interest in assisting employers who have been duped, rather it chooses to take action to recover money. This is a simple case of fraud and theft.
In one case one contractor actually hacked our site and placed a trojan on our server. This was used to manipulate traffic to our site and eventually caused our site to lose all its rankings, costing us over $100,000 in lost revenue. It is not as if ew are newbies to the internet, but rest assured, Odesk has some very clever people, who know all the tricks to take your money.
ODesk will do nothing to assist you of a resentful contractor writes bad feedback about you. They may be resentful because you caught them charging ten hours without doing a single thing. Suddenly your reputation is damaged.
I am angered and resentful that I was so severely ripped off by this website and by the fact that ODesk knows what is going on, but does nothing to prevent it. RIP ODesk
