Complaint Review: Office Depot

Office Depot For the purchase of a desktop computer, software, and monitor, I was to get about $280.00 rebate. They refused to honor the rebate. Pascagoula Mississippi

The company ran a special promotion on the aforementionbed items which promised almost $300.00 in rebates. The folks at the store were very careful to supply me with all of the correct and required forms, copies of documentation, and other special items to submit. Their rebate agent sent me a notice stating that I would not get the rebate because I purchased the "wrong" items which is an out and out lie. So the Attorney General was notified.

Been there done that. Having had that problem happen to me several times, WE have to do something about it. I tell salespeople I won't buy anything with a rebate. If they wish to sell it to me, lower the price by the rebate price otherwise no deal. I know there are some items out there that people need ,that have them, if you have to buy that item , buy it with the understanding that if they jerk you around on the rebate you will return the item(s) for a full refund in a timely manner.

These companies know that only 1-2% of rebate are redeemed. If WE start standing up to them they will stop jerking us around on these rebates. Give us a fair price to begin with and do away with this rebate crap all togeather ,like I have. Don't see car dealer giving you mail in rebates. My Dad got a phone ,sent in the $50 rebate, first bill comes in they try and charge him a month's bill for 2 days. He canceled with that cell Co. went elsewhere.

Several weeks later here comes his $50 rebate check. Payback. I would have taken the computer, software and monitor back to Office Depot and demanded a refund. When these store managers have to start explaining , things will change.
