Office Depot, No rebates sent out and FREE upgrade to Vista not sent out. Sarasota Florida
In November 14th 2006 I bought a Gateway Computer that was pre Vista but had sticker that when came out would be sent. In the mean time the computer was defective and returned for compaq presario. After March 1st and not recieved rebate (150) or Vista upgrade I went to store. They looked up and said rebate was ent and cashed but not to me. They said they would refile. They did not. Then they gave me upgrade of Vista off shelf which voided warranty since not OEM. I had to use recovery after tech assistance said it would be 29.95 for assistance due to using Vista off shelf that Manager said to use. Recovery discs were 129.95. I said I wanted refund since they told me using Vista off shelf was a favor and they offered service contract for 199.95. I said no and after I argued they said OK we will order discs for 12.95 but you have to use your Visa and haVE SENT TO STORE SINCE THEY WOULD ONLY HAVE TO PAY 12.95. ALSO THEY SAID i WOULD GET 12.95 BACK WHEN DISCS CAME IN. They did not come in and new manager was there so I had to run through this again. I was told that they could not get discs or warrenty or rebate since original pruchase was in November. End result-Junk Compaq Computer without operating system, no rebate, no warranty, and also no dvd burning which was also promised. They got nasty and forbid me from store even though i was very pleasant to them. I overpaid 150 for junk without warranty and no recolurse since corperate could not gather info and would not take my word even with recipts showing trail. What now?

Vista Upgrade

The Microsoft Windows Vista upgrades on computers towards the end of 2006 was offered by the computer manufactures. All major computer manufactures (Dell, HP, Gateway, etc.) offered a free upgrade to Windows Vista, of comparable version to the Windows XP version, through their own process. Usually it would be by filling out some information on their website and then mailing in some form of payment for the S&H of the disc.
