Complaint Review: Office-Max

Office-Max rebate scam rebate ripoffs

I am another victim of the Office-Max rebate scam. In March 2001 I purchased a CD Rom drive which described a $45 rebate. After three months I called the number listed in the Office-Max rebate catalog and was told that they had no record of my submittal. When I complained via e-mail to the Office-Max web page I received an answer from the corporate office with the "check is in the mail." The check number was listed and a web page was shown to "check on the status." The web page is "unavailable." I would think a company the size of Office-Max would be mortified to be associated with such a blatant disregard for their customers.

I am an employee at officemax and i would just like to add that for the most part it is not our fault. People get a rebate and think they have all the time in the world when actually they only have five days from date of purchase to get it postmarked further more you should ALWAYS make copies of everything you send. If you dont receive your rebate talk to a store manager, I know we have honored some in our store. And just to add sometimes companies give a great rebate thinking alot of people wont buy there product and than end up going out of business.

They filed the following to the above Rip-Off Report:

Their email: kahn@paulbunyan.net
Their name: Dave

Their relationship to the company: Supporter

Rebuttal:
I am not saying anything, but I bought the same rebate item and got mine in only 2 weeks.

I would look at the source of the problem. Its problably not Office Max fault that the company thats offering the rebate is unable to comply with there own offers. The same problem happens to all the companys that offer third party rebats. (I myself do not buy an item becasue of the rebate as thay are not always very reliable, and thats from all companys)
