My husband and I made the mistake of moving to Maine, in August, 2016.  We are now taking steps to sell our home and move as far away from Maine as we can. Why?  Because State Government Agencies have failed to take our complaints in any serious manner, refused to help us, and gave us the SHAFT as well.

It all began, when we got badly screwed by a negligent real estate agent and her broker.  This agent did not protect our interests as a buyer's agent, failed to disclose material defects about a house and an area.  Also, she allowed the sellers to leave the home in dirty and damaged condtion.

As a result, we lost $60,000 selling it - as well as mental and physical suffering.

Unable to find a lawyer nor pay huge fees to any lawyer, we filed a complaint with the Maine Real Estate Commission.  That was when things got much worse for us.  The investigator, Bruce Osborne, LIED in a wrongful dismissal of our valid complaint and do so with malice and discrimination against us.

Each and every State Government Agency, we went to for help - all were horrible to us and matters got much, much worse. We had always had respect for the Governor's Office - but now we no longer do. We had called the Office Of Governor Paul LaPage several times.  We were told that HE reads his own mail - personally.

We wrote him an 11 page letter and hoped we would get some sort of satisfaction. Instead of EMPATHY - Instead of Offering Some Help - we got an insulting letter from an aide of the Governor - a woman named Jean St Pierre. We were shocked at the content of the letter and the lack of any human feelings for our plight.

We mailed that letter on October 24th, 2018.  On October 30th, we called the office and spoke to a man named Adam.  He said the letter was received and was now in the Governor's mail box.  We figured to give him 2 weeks or so, for a proper reply.

Instead, on November 2nd, we received a "short and curt" reply from his aide, Jean St. Pierre.  This woman had the nerve to say that  IT IS THE BELIEF OF OUR OFFICE THAT YOUR CASE WAS HANDLED APPROPRIATELY.  She advised us to call a private lawyer.

If the Governor himself and Ms. St. Pierre HAD TRULY READ OUR LETTER she would have seen the following:

1. That we did contact 25 or so lawyers.  No luck.

2. That the complaint we made to the Maine Real Estate Commission was certainly NOT handled appropriately.

I did call her office to voice our concerns over this "Sluff Off" letter we got. What she did was to merely call the office of the Real Estate Commission and they TOLD her that everything was handled appropriately and SHE BELIEVED THEM INSTEAD OF US.

Also, they sent her a copy of the 5 Page Dismissal - with all its lies and gross distortions of the real truth - and she bought that package of lies. Why, you ask - dear readers, that the Governor's Office did not believe us?

The answer is simple.  Government Agencies - in Maine - PROTECT THEIR OWN.  No one is State Government will side with the citizen.

The Government of the State of Maine - From the Governor's office on down - are LIKE ONE BIG, HAPPY FAMILY.  They will totally dis-regard the complaints and experiences of the citizen - if that citizen is complaining against one of their own. They will cause more damage by such blantant dis-regard for the citizen and actually make matters much worse for that citizen.

We will NEVER know if Governor Paul La Page actually read our 11 page letter or if the aide did.  We think they merely glanced at it - and chose to NOT believe us.

I did call Ms. St Pierre, and she was both rude and sarcastic to me.  No sympathy at all for the terrible plight we suffered both the the Real Estate Agency, Real Estate Commission and Attorney General's Office. She even said things that were insulting to us.  I had to hang up on her.

A Wise Man in History Once Said:  ABSOLUTE CORRUPTION, CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY. Truer words were never spoken.

My advise to you, dear readers, is this:

If you ever get cheated by a real estate agent or any company, DO NOT FILE A COMPLAINT WITH ANY STATE GOVERNMENT OFFICE IN THE STATE OF MAINE. They are certainly NOT on your side.  You will only suffer more fustration and grief.

As for us, we are packing our things, selling lots of our stuff, and moving as far West until we can touch the Pacific Ocean. This will be, of course, after we sell our current home.  Wish us well, dear readers, and heed our advise.
