I cannot still believe this school exists. This place has been extorting money from prospective students for years, and for whatever reasons, it still hasn't been shut down. I went there in June 2005, after many years of working in an office and needing a change of career. Everyone was friendly when I went to the Open House, hearing several speakers and speaking of what we would learn.

Through the booklet, I found the tuition was $12000, which was a lot of money for me, making me take out loans which I eventually paid off. I quickly learned, the equipment was outdated, the stuff they were teaching would never be applicable to the every day work day in radio and television. I asked others to help me when I was having difficulty doing something, nothing!

At certain points, the person who helps you seek employment( I laugh at this now!), would come into our classes with a stack of jobs we would most certainly be able to gain once we graduated. Little did I know, the stooge hid in his office, and searched jobs on the Internet as I could have easily done as well. He had no connections, never helped us at all once we graduated, if he could have at least called the stations, tv or radio and said he was from the school, can you give this student at least an interview. Nothing, nada, nyet!!!!

At graduation, they all stood there, saying how wonderful we were, and how, if at any time, we needed help pursuing a job, just give them a call. Yeah, right...Catching up with fellow graduates, who by the way, none are involved in either radio or tv, all told me, the school would not help them, not one iota....when one person actually did get a job in this field, the school actually had the nerve to take credit for helping this student, when in actual reality, they had nothing to do with this person getting the job.

It's sad, really, I liked most of my Instructors, all they are hired to do, is pass along information to the students. That's it! There is not enough time to get the experience in either fields to be able to acquire jobs, so therefore, back to square one. I should have gone to college in this field, at least  I would have a degree.

If you have been squandered out of thousands of dollars on this scam of a school, let me know. I enjoy hearing how others have suffered financially due to wasting their lives and money on a place that legally should not be in business!

OCB Got My Career Rolling

I'm a graduate of OCB and I have to say that the above complaint was the complete opposite of my personal experience.  I'm graduated in March of 2006 and had a job in May of the same year as the Afternoon Personality of a radio station in Iowa.  I've now been in radio for 5+ years and currently host the Night Show on Top 40/Star 102.1 in Knoxville, TN.

OCB provided me with all the tools needed to become a successful broadcaster.  The whole experience was a complete blast and I wound up with a great career in the end.

Regardless of what school you attend, at the end of the day you've got to take some accountability for your own successes and failures.  Like in any field, being a success in the world of broadcasting is dependent upon on your own ability to put in the hard work and effort required to achieve your goals.

OCB gave me all the tools I needed to succeed, it was up to me to put them to use.

Ohio Center for Broadcasting

The Ohio Center for Broadcasting is not a fraud and I know this from personal experience. I too attended this school in 2005 and have been working in radio for the last 5 years. The Ohio Center for Broadcasting held a job fair around our graduation time which is where I networked with the company that I am currently working for. I also know 5 others from my class that were hired in radio right after graduation.

The Ohio Center for Broadcasting had plenty of equipment for us to use and gave us projects to complete in both television and radio so that we would gain knowledge of both fields. The instructors and instructors' assitant's were always around helping us on our projects. The school even moved into a bigger building down the street from where they were located and purchased more equipment to fit their professional studios and newsroom.

The placement director of the school was and still is a huge help as I am still in contact with the school. They all offer advice and help as much as they can. The school and it's employees encourage their graduates and students to stay in touch with them as they enjoy seeing how we become successful with the job options that they have given us.

I would not recommend going to a 4 year college and spending more money to obtain a degree in this field. I received a diploma after completeing the 10 month program and was hired into radio shortly after.

I am proud to say that I am a graduate of the Ohio Center for Broadcasting and will continue to support that school as they have supported me throughout my years with them.
