Olathe Suzuki sent me a certified letter to advertise my approval for a new vehicle. They promised a 400 dollar gift card if I came in. I arrived in hopes of trading in my 09 Kia Optima and the selection was nothing but used older cars with 200,000 miles. I received the bogus gift card to ShoppingCardStore.com and nevr did discover what I could or couldn't use it on. I spent hours searching for the correct site and have yet to understand how to use the d*mn thing.

I researched the card and apparently it has had multiple previous names. Suzuki is bullsh*t. I will never buy a car from them or drive a free one if it was offered. They waste peoples time and then wonder why they are in the financial predicament they are in. It is called unethical business practice and misleading advertising tactics. My boyfriens actually considered buying a used car until we realized the card give away is a hoax. Who is to say the car isnt super glued together after being totalled with a lost or salvaged title? F*ck them

I am just glad that I read this report when I did as I caught a post on craigslist about how bad this dealership is and reading the comments this dealership has left, it has only saved me much grief. Our company has started to go tremendously so we are needing to provide more company vehicles for our 4 new offices and we always pleased with Suzuki vehicles and I just got done shooting out an email to the top heads to meet me at this dealership but instead of the company apologizing for any wrong doing or misconception, they say "if you couldn't or wouldn't"? No matter what the customers intentions are you should alway treat them like they are your boss because without any customers you would not have a job. Thank you for creating this rip off report!

@ Kim and the dealer - I'm not the original poster - I've never been to this dealership. I am familiar with shoppingcardstore.com and it's previous incarnations. I'll say it again, it's sleazy to use this site in your marketing program and I won't buy from a dealer that uses it. That's it :)

Dealerships and external marketers for dealerships are always under scrutiny for anything and everything, and it's very sad.  There are some dealers out there that are deceptive, but we aren't.  If you didn't see a vehicle that liked, or that you could get approved for, then that's sad to hear.  We try anything and do whatever it takes to get customers into a newer/different vehicle.  Companies like Traffic Jam Events, Prestige, etc., are external marketers for dealers, you are correct.  Autotrader, Cars.com, and On Sight Productions are as well.  Every dealer in the area, uses some type of external marketer to aide in growing their business, and reaching potential clientel.  The reason I say to contact them is because when they do an event at a dealer, they solicit the business, bring their own team to handle the business, and then they keep a log of the sold or prospective buyers and build a lifelong relationship with the customers.  I would urge you to give them your feedback, so that they know you are upset about the gift card/prize giveaway.

You are right Kim, thank you!  If you couldn't or wouldn't buy a vehicle, and were just here for the drawing and prize giveaway, then you got what you bargained for.

Tha card may have had a $400 value but if you looks closely there weren't any brand name items you could actually price accurately. All no-name stuff worth MUCH less. The shipping was a pure gouge as well. You are basically paying for the merchandise with the shipping.

These tactics are generally used by fading businesses, sort of as a last-ditch effort to salvage the operation.

I like how you keep an arms-length about the relationship with Traffic Jam Events. Like they just used your dealership to have a place to run their own event. Traffic Jam Events is a direct marketer for car dealerships. They don't pay dealerships to hold events, *dealers* hire them to run marketing campaigns for them. Your dealership hired them and decided what campaign to go with, including using shoppingcardstore.com. It's gimmicky and sleazy marketing.

Well Tom, I would suggest you get ahold of Traffic Jam Events, if you are upset or feel mislead about the event they put on at Pride Suzuki of Olathe.  If the $400 gift card wasn't enough, and you are bitter about having to pay shipping and handling, then contact the marketing company and see if they will pay it!  The marketing isn't sleazy, everyone won a prize of some sort, from gift cards to cash in hand, and many people were more than satisfied, and have been sending customers to our dealership.

The $400 gift card is not a good deal. It is all dollar store crap and the shipping and handling fees someone has to pay, (out of their own pocket!!), is far more than the worth of the product. And I am sure it had the words "certified letter" on the envelope or inside to make the OP think it was certified.

If a dealer has to stoop so low with gimmicks and misleading marketing materials to trick people into coming in, then it's not worth doing business with. Won't be seeing me there.

You received a mailer from a marketing company called Traffic Jam Events, that hosted a five day event at Pride Suzuki of Olathe.  In no way, shape, or form did you receive a certified letter from us, the postal carrier would have needed your signature at time of delivery, and we didn't send out anything like that.  There have only been a couple vehicles on the lot with that kind of high miles, and over a hundred vehicles that have less than 80,000 miles.   Over 30 vehicles have less than 100 miles on them, and are brand new.  Nothing we sell has a salvaged or lost title, everything is backed by a carfax, which you have to sign at time of purchase at dealers in the state of Kansas.  The $400 gift card is to an online shopping store, which you are responsible for paying shipping only, and the rest is covered by the card.  You get $400 worth of free items;  that's a pretty good deal for just driving to the dealership to pick up your money, and leaving.
