Complaint Review: Old Country Buffet

Old Country Buffet -- Corrupt Corporate Culture Alexandria, Virginia

The Old Country Buffet is a failed business model. OCBs are closing across the country due to mismanagement, complaints from employees and patrons, and poor business practices.

OCB is essentially offers a very low brow culture, which could best be described as "red neck." It attracts patrons with criminal tendencies and low impulse control.

Most buffets have a calm, quiet structure to them. People eat quietly and then leave. At the OCB, the environment is chaos. People are shoved in like cattle, battle each other like pigs at a trough, and then leave.  Patrons harass other patrons and engage in any number of inappropriate, improper, and occassionally illegal actions with the consent and support of management.

The corporate culture here is entirely dishonest.  They engage in illegal, unethical actions with criminally minded patrons. When caught, they lie and cover up. The cove up reaches all the way to headquarters.  They also apparently have some kind of arrangement with Fairfax County Police which also engaged in lies and retaliatory actions against whisteblowers.

Dine here at your own risk.  The element and culture is extremely seedy and low brow.  Criminals are counted among patrons and staff whose actions are somehow being covered up and protected by corrupt Fairfax County Police, who should be investigating, as opposed to participating, in OCB's criminal conduct.

I really take offense to someone saying this type of restaurant "attracts patrons with criminal tendencies and low impulse control".  I really like going to these types of buffet restaurants, and I have never seen the crowds like this person described.  Maybe this person can just stay home, and order pizza brought to them, and leave the buffet to those who enjoy them.

"...battle each other like pigs at a trough". That pretty well describes the few all you can eat buffets I've ever been to. I don't think I've seen or heard of a "calm and quiet" all you can eat place. The two just don't go togeather. As for the "redneck" comment. All types are attracted, I don't know about the criminal tendencies part, but the low impulse control sure fits. Why else would they go to an all you can eat place? Cause they don't know when to stop eatting.
