I called Old Republic to request service on a broken water main at my home. The agent indicated that Old Republic doesn't cover anything outside the home. I indicated that the damage was to a pipe connected to my home to which she indicated that it WOULD be covered. She then ordered the service.

I took a morning off to meet the plumber at my house. When he got there, without ever getting out of his truck, he told me that it wouldn't be covered and drove off.

I then get a bill from Old Republic requesting payment of $40 for the service call. I called them to explain that their agent told me that it was covered and ordered the service.

The supervisor, Anthony King, told me that he wasn't going to "lose money" from this and that I would have to pay. He told me that he "doesn't care" that the agent told me it was covered. He said that it was my responsibility and not his agents. Even though she indicated that it WAS covered and she went ahead and ordered the service.

Welcome to what I have come to know as Old Republic Lip Service.

Twice summer now winter we have been provided Lip Service to get us off the phone. Cut your loss and hire a plumber . We figured we cut our losses by firing Old Republic accepting it was a bad investment.

About the best thing we all can do is make others aware of thier abuse.

Were filing a consumer complaint and following up with our contractors state license board on the so called contractor Glenair they provided us.

PS - By the way anyone in the Murrieta area stay away from Glenair!!!! Glenair is a whole other story, good luck. As stated in some company rebuttals if Gary Vasilia or whatever had any sincere concerns he would have fired them last summer.

Read your contract. Even though he agent said that the work would be covered, the service call is not covered. Anytime you call them out there is going to be a service call fee. It should clearly state on your contract that you will be charged a service call if a technician comes out to your house.
