I've been reading a lot of consumer complaints about Old Republic, and I mean A LOT... no wonder when I submitted a claim for reimbursement of a plumbing disaster I had in my home (that I recently bought), THEY REJECTED IT with an unsympathetic formatted template letter. They are such jackasses!

I work for a large California health insurance plan and at one point worked in the Grievance and Appeals Department; we understand when people are in difficult situations and try to make things as easy for them as possible. I can't count how many exceptions I've made for people who were in similiar situations. My sink backed up on Thanksgiving day and was having family over for dinner.

I called a plumber who was there within the hour to fix it, unfortunately I had forgotten about the home warranty and when I wrote to them to request a reimbursement for at least part of the services, they completely rejected my request stating that I should of used one of their contractors...from what I hear, the contractors they use are idiots and not only that I'm sure Old Republic would have declined to authorize the repairs stating that it was a pre-existing condition. DON'T PURCHASE A HOME WARRANTY FROM THEM IF YOU CAN HELP IT!

They are completely UNSYMPATHETIC to the customers needs! I was in a very bad situation that day and I guarantee you if I had used one of their contractors, the problem would not have been fixed for days later. I'm filing an appeal with the Department of Insurance, but I doubt they will be much more sympathetic. I guess that's the way things are when dealing with bureucrats. And on top of it all, Old Republic failed to send my any policy information so I would understand how it worked. Go figure.
