Complaint Review: Olive Garden-Mobile AL

A friend "treated" me to lunch at Olive Garden in Mobile, Alabama.  We both ordered the soup and salad. 

When the soup was served, I saw a gray kinky hair floating on top of her soup.  I told her to send the soup back.  I called the waiter, pointed out the hair to him, and he removed the soup.  My friend asked if the manager was in. 

The manager, William Phillips, appeared at our table.  My friend asked him if covers were not provided for the head and facial hair for the the kitchen personnel.  He nodded "yes".  He made no apology at all and was rather glib about it!  The waiter replaced her soup but by then I had lost my appetite. 

When my friend paid for the lunches, I thought surely there would be some type of adjustment for the "hair in soup".  Wrong!!  The manager made no adjustment at all. 

Later I met someone who worked in the kitchen at this particular Olive Garden.  I was relating to him the "hair in soup" incident and the unconcern of the manager.  He said, "We don't wear those covers for the hair unless the health department is due to inspect us and we always know in advance when they are coming." 

No more Olive Garden for me.....anywhere!!!!
