to date i have sent 3500.00 to omni.they continue to ask for more retainer money.when i was contacted by them i was told that my initial 2,500.00 would be enough to handle my problem.they continued to ask for more money,i sent them another 1,000.00 check and another post dated check for 500.00.i have a friend that went to your webb site and called me to warn me.i will be honest with you, they have been pretty nice to me.wait,i would probably be nice if i was getting 3,500.00 for it.i am concerned if i bail out now that the irs bullies will knock on my door tomorrow.i have really screwed myself over the last couple years and was desperate for someone to help me.is there a chance they can handle this or am i just another person that was desperate?

I was on a monthly installment @ one time.I made the mistake of intrusting my checking account to a pit bull with lipstick. When you miss a payment they want it all. When I evicted the pit bull, not only did she steal everything I owned, she said she did her patriotic duty and called the IRS and said she thought they might want to investigate me.

I was unaware that the payment that I made to the IRS was like making a minimum payment on a charge card.Just like a charge card you pay twice as much as needed.

Also ripped off by Omni Financial

I also was ripped off by this same company more than a year ago. I still have the papers, but not in front of me....but I had not filed taxes in about 7 or 8 years. I owed on every year I think. I was $38,000 in debt with the IRS and scared to death that I would be left with just a few pennies a week to eat on. Well, Omni told me for x amount of money they can handle my case and also get me money back after I paid the debt because I was off from work for a while one year, had a grandparent die one year, I was in a alcohol rehab program one year, ect....and that the IRS would knock off some of my debt for this reason. NOT entirely true.

They were saying I'd be looking to get back around $8,000 returned to me. This is called an abatement. They lied to me. When I called the IRS they told me that I could only abate one year. This was from the man in charge the abatements. He was very nice. Omni did take down my statements and write up an abatement statement that they were going to send. After I fired them, I sent in the statement they wrote up that was suppose to help me....The guy from the IRS sent it back with ALOT of comments on it. This paper that they charged me for was absolutely useless.

I am willing to bet my life that this is done on purpose, considering how they brag about how much experience they have...this tells me that somewhere down the road, this would have dragged out and I would have had to send more money to them. If you do abatements for many many years...you should know by now how to write up a proper abatement. These people just took my money. That's it. They accomplished absolutely nothing for me.

Well, like the person starting this thread...I gave them the "X" amount of money they said they would need to do this for me. It was a very simple case. No house, no car payments...single person with job making "x" amount of money a year...no money hid in the back yard, no CD's, no nothing. Just a simple IRS case...This is what I owe, this is what I make and these are my bills. You'd think, that since they brag about doing this for many many many years that they would know by now how much it takes to do a simple case from start to finish. These people are rip off artists who then called me back for about $1,000 more I think. They hadn't even filed anything meaningful yet.

I gave it to them and then about a few weeks later they were wanting more money. I promptly told them where to go. So I think I paid them about $2,500-$3,000 for absolutely NOTHING but phone calls. What they don't tell you is....they charge you for the "Welcome to Omni" stuff they send you. How arrogant is that? They charge you for every "Just checking to see how things are going" phone call. If you pay them and they send you something...you are going to get charged for it. I even got charged for a lady calling and telling me where and how to send the payment!!!!! I called and complained to get it taken off...but that is NOT the point.

They never should have billed me to begin with. The last phone call I got was from the person assigned to my case who called me up to talk about why I wanted to drop them...when I asked if I was being charged for the call, take a guess....Yes. I repeatedly told her..."if I am being charged for this call, then I am not talking to you". I had to tell her this 3 or 4 times before she hung up.

If they brag about how good they are, how knowledgeable they are and how long they've been in business then they should know from the very first time I called them with my simple, simple case how much it would cost from start to finish. That's like me being a painter for 20 years and telling someone how much to paint their house and then right in the middle of it telling them I want more money.

Do NOT use these people!

As for the person who started this thread....No, you don't need to be scared. I have a big stuttering problem, but I called the IRS myself. What they do is...is take down all your information, what you make, what all of your individual bills are and they tell you how much you have to pay. Me, I am having to pay $937 a month...but I make quite a bit and have no bills really other than regular living expenses. You may or may not get a "bully" at the IRS, if you do...and your calling from a cordless or cell phone...just let them know this at the start of the conversation (be sure and write down their employee ID number they give you) and tell them if your battery goes dead that you will call right back.

When you do call back...you won't get the same person and they won't write down that your difficult or combative and hopefully you'll get a nicer person. I talked to maybe 6 IRS people over the course of a month and 2 were not very nice. Most will actually help you and give you the maximum allowance. Like I said...cordless phones or cellphones can help you here.
