I have been completed scammed and ripped off. I am a military veteran and a single mother of 4 and I'm expecting my 5th. I moved here in August with the hopes of living out a childhood dream. I recently got out of the service a couple years ago and I said I wanted to move to Florida to finally have my family stationery and open my bakery. So we moved here from Maryland and as anyone else these days we are on a strict budget. I am apart of the veteran program here to get veterans back on their feet. I was having car problems and I contacted a mobile mechanic who said he has been in business for over 10 years. He came out gave me an estimate. I explained to him that I am apart of the veteran program who will cover the cost of my repairs. I told him I need to call my case worker and we are good to go. Next morning he came to my fix car and I told him I'm waiting to hear back from my case worker so hopefully by time he's done I will hear from her. Long story short he ended up finishing before I heard from her. I asked him please be patient I'm trying to get her on the phone. He said pay me something or give him my keys. As I'm checking the repairs before agreeing to what he said I noticed my AC would not cut on and it worked just fine before he started.  He checked and said it will work it's fine give it time. I felt weird about it. It just didn't seem right. He said let him drive it around the corner to see if he could get it to work. He came back after about 15minutes.  It was only pumping heat! He came to work on my engine and radiator and turns out he made it worst. His quote was a little over 700 and by time he was done it was a little over 800. So I told him to show  that I appreciate his business and until I hear from  my case worker I'll give him a 500 deposit and when my case worker comes to pay him he can give it back. He agreed to just that. So I borrowed the money from a friend to pay him. Next day my case worker finally called me back and said she will take care of it. It took her 2 days to get him paid but mean while I was getting threatening texts and calls from the mechanic. I told him my case worker was working on it. I told him to meet at my house when case worker got here so he could give the 500 back. He asked for my case worker number to verify. I gave it no problem not knowing he was going to call her to tell her to meet him somewhere else so he can keep my 500. My case worker sent me an email that she just paid him to my surprise I didn't know that. I tried calling him and immediately phone goes straight to voicemail. I texted and nothing. So this man walked away with my 500 plus 730 from the veteran program. Not only that my car is doing same thing he claimed to fix. I took it to another mechanic and to fix his lies it will cost me 1500. I was only able to use the program for my car once so that cost will be strictly out of pocket.I have made numerous calls and he won't call me back. I'm so hurt right now! I am my kids only provider and this is just wrong.
