One Call Comm - USBI ripoff, called on X-mas eve when my CPU was off and no one was home Internet
I recieved my phone bill today after switching two month ago from AT&T to SBC (Michigan). I had a $45.51 charge from One Call Comm, USBI to the Untd KinkD XX 441277770101.
I have put a dispute on this call, and after reading some of the other posts found the number 1-888-476-8724 to call USBI. The number they had listed on the front of my billing 1-888-472-8724 was a recording.
They told me the call came from my phone. After I tell them that I was not home, no one was this was Christmas Eve, I was given a hard time till I told them I have contested this and would report to the FCC and the State Attorney Generals office. Keep in mind I use CABLE Broad Band NOT dial up, but my phone line was billed and I was told by USBI that the call came from my phone line.
Suddenly I was given a "One time credit" this must be the biggest rip off going. My CPU was off, I use Broad Band (cable) and no one was here... anythoughts

They count on many people who pay whatever is asked without question.

That's how they make their money. I researched this problem. It's called the modem dialer con. A company called Premium Premier Communications was doing it until recently.
Search here for those frauds if you'd like to understand how a broadband connection is hijacked like this.
Anybody can send out fake bills like this. Evidentially, with impunity. At least for the better part of a year.
As a potential victim, it's up to you not to pay for anything that you did not want or request. Remember the old saying: There's a sucker born every minute. And, two to take him.
