I did some work at a Hot Topic store for this company in January, (today is April 17) and have faxed the invoices the way that they told me to, but they have never payed. I spent some of my own money on supplies, so I not only wasted my time, but money as well. The scary thing is that they ask you to fill out a W-9, and if you do not have an EIN, you have to enter your ss#. Luckily I sent my EIN (I am a Sole-Proprietor), and not my ss#. They got my contact info through an internet lead generating company, Service Magic, so if you are signed up with them or a similar company, be cautious about doing work for out of town companies. They lead you to believe that by doing this work for them, that It will lead to more, larger jobs.

I had a similar experience with this company last year

I had a similar experience. They gave me an infinite runaround, constantly telling me I needed to talk to the ever elusive "Sam" who was NEVER in, and refused to return phone calls. They secure contracts with big chains like Hot Topic, to manage all their maintenance and handyman needs. They hire people all over the country to do the work at the stores, collect the money from the stores, then refuse to pay the vendors. There's enough reports on this company to realize that this is standard practice for these guys. They're banking on the fact that most people won't utilize the court system for a few hundred bucks. I've been in this business many years, and have run accross this too many times. Here's what you do. Call Hot Topic, ask for the manager. Then politely tell him or her what happened. Tell them that unfortunately you are now going to be forced to sue the store, and that you need their corporate phone number. When you talk to corporate, again be very polite. Tell them that you're hoping this can all be resolved with a few phone calls, but if it isn't, that unfortunately you will be forced to file a claim in the court system. Trust me, they WILL call OCS and read them the riot act. OCS isn't concerned with you at all, but they WILL get concerned when a large company calls them. This has worked for me every time.

Today is May 15th, 2009 and as of today we have not received a responce to our rebuttal. Nor has any contractor from this city or state, have called us for payment. It is clear to us at One Call Services that this complaint was fraudulant and made with no truth. Thanks You Robert E.

To whome it may concern. I am curiouse to know who you are. We at OCS have not done work for Hot Topic at all this year. To say you did work and provided moneys for material is a straight out lie. So, if you are truly a lagitimate complaint. Show who you are and we will resolve any issues immediatly. I will also pay you an additinal 10% on your so called invoice. Have a nice Day.
