This rehab and everyone working in it should have been shut down a very long time ago. My brother in law was a patient here on and off for over year for heroin and alcohol addiction. His therapist, an evil, self-interested, money hungry, unethical woman named Berni Fried who is also the owner of this rehab, would convince him and his family to pay 60k/mo every time he would start to use heroin. His family gave this woman nearly half a million dollars for nothing. He was able to do whatever he wanted at one80, come and go as he pleased and was regularly prescribed addictive drugs by their doctors and used drugs while he was there with other clients without anyone stopping him. Their psychiatrists hand out Xanax, Suboxone, Adderal and other addictive drugs to their clients like candy. Every time my brother in law's family tried to take him to another rehab, Ms Fried would manipulate my brother in law during thier therapy visits and tell his family that they were the source of his problem and that the solution was to go back to one80. My brother in law recently died from an overdose a few weeks after relapsing on alcohol and heroin WHILE STAYING AT ONE80. They did nothing after he relapsed but asked us to pay more money for a sober companion (while we were begging Berni to convince him to go to treatment to another rehab, which she refused to do). Berni has her husband Alex run one80 and Alex has no training or credentials in addiction treatment. We have deduced that they tolerated numerous relapses with no change in treatment and we have evidence that Berni and Alex were aware of drugs being used in the rehab but turned a blind eye. We are devastated and feel our heart has been town out of our chests. Berni is known for preying on Hollywoods rich and famous and using incredibly manipulative therapy techniques to control their behavior, unfortunately my brother in law was one of them. We are currently filing a lawsuit and have filed several consumer complaints against Berni Fried and one80 center but are afraid more people will die before they are stopped. We are also aware of 3 recents overdose deaths that have taken place at one80.

Drugs, alchole , addiction; a very scary place to be!

Usally, when one has hit 'rock bottom' is when the individual suffering from these maladies seeks the help they need.  And in today's world where much has been research and the individual entering a facility , lets call it rehab; they come in with all sorts of disorders, thereby coming up with the new label , 'co-ocuring' disorders' meaning: drugs , alchole , has been the solution for the individuals problem all these years, for the malady they have been suffering from in the brain.....& after so many years of abuse the result is ; addiction!!!!!

so, in order to treat patients coming into a rehab facility for any/all ailments , the first thing that must be done is to try and stop the cycle of addiction, so the other problems can be tackled.

I am not a dr. Nor am I a rehab staff member, I'm what you would refer too as a 'recovering addict'. I won't get into my story, but the recovery process is a long difficult one. Many just assume , you go into a facility for 30 days and you are cured!  This is sadly untrue... And for years the recovery community placed all patients into the same mold , and basically forced everyone to do the same thing,& hoped for the best.....

Its also a sad fact that the success rate for any program is extremely low! Addiction, eating disorders, does so much damage to the addict & his/her family, that the road back is difficult, and one needs all the support they can get.

I have been to a few rehabs, and they were basically the same, cookie cutter mold of the same old thing; then I found 180, & the difference being, is that they tailor make a recovery program that fits the individual. They have a high staff to patient ratio, making it ideal for the patient to be able to find someone that they find a connection with.

Bottom line is you get what you pay for,& complaining about the price point because your son, daughter, sibling , did not succeed or I'm so very sorry to say , OD'd....is basically hindsight is 20/20.

As in anything in life, if one reaches a certain point in there recovery & most times recovering addicts do not listen to their treatment team-& claim n stress they r ready to get out...... There's a point where personal responsibility comes into play.

If a client chooses to ignore the staff, and they are left alone prematurely , and they use, there is nothing any rehab can do about that.

After 3 years of trying and doing things on my own; I listened to what my treatment team at 180 told me every step of the way, sometimes clawing & crying and for the first time since I'm 15 I'm sober 18 months- I'm 44! After you are freed from the addiction part of the disease - it becomes a choice, wheather you will pick up again.
