OneUnited Bank (Execs. Sherri Brewer, Kylene Robinson, Teri Williams, Kevin Cohee, #BankBlack ) Closed (secured) Unity Visa Account and they refused to credit the security deposit to my balance as it was supposed to be. Los Angeles California
On 03/14/17 I closed my Unity Visa And was told that my deposit would pay the bill and refund me the rest. The BANK Didnt pay it and damaged my credit. On 03/14/17 I closed my unity visa acct and the reps told me that my deposit will pay the account and my refund on .49 would be credited back to the account that I used for the ACH to set up the card. A week later I call back to check the status of the acct and a rep said that a ticket had been created to refund the .49 and close the account. She also said that she would forward the message to Kylene Robinson. Around 4/1/17 I noticed the account hadn't still been closed and now I have a late on my credit report. Kylene FINALLY called me back on 4/3/17 and offered no help, she read to me the same script that the Bank gives everyone and she emailed me a Unity Visa Cardholder Agreement which doesn't say anywhere where they can't apply the deposit to the balance. I told them that's a ripoff, why do I need to have a security deposit if it won't be applied when the account is closed? It make me wonder if OneUnited even has my deposit in a collateral account? I've never seen a monthly statement and things over in the bank seems to be in Chaos. It simply didn't have to go this far if the bank had used the deposit to pay the account after it was closed. I'm very disappointed because as an African American Man I entrusted that this bank would be up to par and a game changer in the community. I was wrong, I was a part of #bankblack and was spreading the word about OneUnited; well not anymore. If this bank wants to compete outside of #bankblack then they need to upgrade the technology, restructure the company, and stop trying to hustle everybody out a dollar with unnecessary fees. It's simple I'm not requesting ANY money from the bank I just want my security deposit to be APPLIED to the closed SECURED Unity Visa account. I also want the negative payment removed from my credit report. I hope Teri Williams reads this because she's been making media rounds and marketing for the past year, so therefore she needs to know what is going on with the financial side of the bank also.
