OAA makes promises to thoroughly train you to make $30K in six months by participating in online auctions (such as Ebay) and online malls (Yahoo Shopping). You are told after the inital FREE Online Live Presentation that the cost is $4997, but if you call immediately, they will offer the first five "protege's" a "special" deal at $3997, with a 30-day money back guarantee.

Once you sign up, you quickly find that the only chance you have to make $30K is by pedaling the OAA "Affiliate Program." That's right--get more suckers like yourself to join their Program so they can take their $3997, and so on, and so on... I realized this within a day of signing up and refused to sign their Money Back contract. They still will not refund my money, even though my official training is not supposed to start for a week.

I'm in the process on working with my credit card company, the BBB, and the Department of Consumer Affairs. If that doesn't work out, I have an attorney who will work with me. We would like to hear from others in the same situation for a possible class action suit. reply through the rebuttal key.

Hello Dean,

Thank you for your very detailed reporting and continuing updates. This is what is needed to put this company out of business. I challenge MARK ISRAEL, STERLING BROWN or LINDA MEYER to file a slander lawsuit. Their empty threats and false claims WILL NOT HOLD UP IN A COURT OF LAW! They know this. Why would they be paying any attention to public forum website otherwise? Plus the money the would have to sink into continuing lawsuits would be phenomenal!

So go ahead ONLINE AUCTION ACADEMY! I would like to see you defend your shadey practices in public. I will gladly post the courts findings on this website.

Keep up the good work, Dean!

Process of Fighting for My Refund

#9Consumer Comment

Hi,
I too signed up with OAA and since notified them that I want my money back. I did not sign the guarantee, since it contradicted the guarantee that I was given.

I followed the program for 2 weeks, only to learn that they will be of no help at all. I leaned nothing.

Found out that a lot of what they stated they provide they don't.

Dean, you said you had a large package to send your cc company. May I ask what information you provided them? I am in process of a dispute with OAA.

I went back & forth with Lynn today to no avail.
She said not to return materials or they would be refused.

Please, any information helpful to getting a refund would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

Dean

It wasn't easy, but I got my money back from Online Auction Academy...

After sending my credit card company a large Priority Mail package filled with carefully detailed data to back up my complaint, I received a rather pleasant email today from the Accounting Department of Online Auction Academy that my Visa account had been credited with $3997. So it appears that my case has now been closed to my satisfaction.

With regard to OAA, all I can say is be wary of their guarantee - once you've decided that you are going to accept OAA's coaching and training, I truly doubt that the conditions of their guarantee can ever be met by the Protege, and you WILL end up paying for their services.

If you DO change your mind after closing the deal (and the "closing" is very slick with OAA), make sure you do so before signing or otherwise accepting their terms.

Return the package they send you and notify your credit card company immediately! I was lucky--I caught on to their game very quickly and decided not to play...I'm convinced this is the only reason I got my money back!

On the other hand, depending on how much you already know about online auctions, and WHAT YOU MIGHT BE WILLING TO FIND OUT ON YOUR OWN (there is a LOT of FREE INFORMATION out there), then OAA's offer MAY OR MAY NOT be worth the high cost to you.

If this is your decision, then make sure you try to get the most from your money by closely following and working their plan for the entire year. Also realize that you may be able to bargain with OAA--I have heard from others who claim to have paid $1000 less for the Protege program...

I too have been ripped off by the OAA...They sent me incorrect passwords so that I could not log on to live classes...then they denied me my refund stating I did not attend classes...They also stated I missed a coaching call when I contacted my coach to reschedule and I did have all 4 sessions...Something needs to be done so they cannot ripoff anymore innocent people...Feel free to contact me as I am willing to file suit against the OAA...

quick response from OAA, RipoffReport.com gets some attention! OAA's hostility has only shown further that

#9Author of original report

After posting my original complaint, I was happy to see a quick response from OAA via email! OAA's response to the heading in the Ripoff Report posting was a brief "Thanks for the FREE publicity! But, I suggest you show the following to your attorney and have him explain libel and slander laws." Although the response from OAA was negative and somewhat threatening, it does prove that RipoffReport.com gets some attention! OAA's hostility has only shown further that, even if I had a change of heart and chose to embark on their Protege Training (and push their affiliate program), I would get less than steller attention from their "coaches." And judging by the other postings here, touching bases with my "coach," or attempting to get real help to ensure I make $30K in six months with success in ONLINE AUCTIONING as promised, and not their bad-business affiliate program, would be an obvious impossibility. Still they refuse a refund...

I would like to hear from others having problems with OAA. I would also like to communicate with Protege students who were either successful in getting a refund (if any exist), or successful in completing the Protege program.
