ONLINE BUDDIES, INC.- MANHUNT.NET CEO made contribution to John McCain, CEO double standard in gay community Cambridge Massachusetts
Owner, Jonathan Crutchley of On-Line Buddies, Inc., AKA Manhunt.net a social networking website for gay and bisexual men to meet and have secret sexual encounters gave a $2300 contribution to presidential hopeful John McCain.
John Crutchley residing in Jamaica Plain, MA has been an owner of this gay/bisexual themed company since 2001 and has also been in the background when it comes to day to day operations. Mr. Cructhley has pissed off the gay/bisexual community by going against what MANHUNT.NET stands for: sexual expression, giving back to the communities it serves and the health organizations that it donates to.
MANHUNT.NET was supposed to be a safe haven for men who wanted to meet other men for sexual encounters in a private website portal. The site did an excellent job at donating monies to AIDS ACTION, JRI, The Boston Living Center and to The Fenway Community Health Center. Not knowing that Crutchley was a double standard, two-faced liar, these organizations took monies from Crutchley's company.
On Friday, August 15, 2008, it was announced from co-owner Larry Basile that Crutchley stepped down as the CEO of On-line Buddies (MANHUNT.NET) without explanation. Larry Basile has been a great icon in the gay and HIV community in Boston for many, many years. He has owned many bars, dating service by phone and internet and a man true to his word.
I can not belive though that some of the members of the site are allowed to still state that they want to bareback (have unsafe sex), use 420 (weed) and tina (crystal). All of these words are ALLOWED on the site and in peoples profiles. There is more than just Crutchley's donation to John McCain that is disruptive about this company.
It seems that On-Line Buddies is giving people the opporuntiy to have unsafe sex, get HIV, but turn around and donate proceeds to the organizations trying to find cures for HIV and other STD'S.
I know what people do is what people do and that everyone should use common sense, but if your a company making BILLIONS of dollars off of the gay community, then you should closely monitor the postings of peoples profiles.
I hope Crutchley becomes VP for McCain if he gets elected. Then Crutchley would see how many gay and bi men and women he has to deal with. McCain took the donation KNOWING that it came from a company that he does not condone in his beliefs as a person or in his campaign.
Crutchley just opened a can of worms for the media to get full attention brought to MANHUNT.
If you are a member of MANHUNT move on to better social networking websites, MANHUNT ONLY cares about the money and not the people.

#3UPDATE EX-employee responds

Well, as an ex employee, yes, some of the customers are allowed to have sex and infect others with HIV. This, i think, is called seeding...or something like that, i cant remember. It seems that some gay members of the community have emotional and psychiatric issues, and they like to infect others. However, they are honest about doing that, and they ONLY MEET MEN WHO LIKE TO BE INFECTED.

This ripoff report is a smear

The report about Jonathan's donation to the McCain campaign is nothing but a smear against the man. Apparently the reporter forgot a couple of key facts. First, the donation was made by Jonathan PERSONALLY, and he was 100% within his rights legally to do so. The donation was not made by Online Buddies since it's illegal for corporations to make donations to candidates. Does it make his previous donations to AIDS organizations and the like moot? I don't see it that way. Most corporations don't dictate who their employees can and cannot donate or vote for--as a matter of fact, that was ruled illegal almost 100 years ago. I actually think, in this instance, Mr. C is better served for going after the perpetrators of this smear for slander. They've destroyed his good name and his reputation--and it was done under the cover of anonymity. As an American who values the freedoms we hold dear, that is truly a chilling prospect.
