This is a warning to all people who want to own their own home business. This Herbalife business is a scam. I want to warn as many people that I can because this has been a major stress in my life and it was supposed to reduce that stress and let me live the life I dreamed of. The saying "If sounds too good to be true..." fits in this catagory. Last year I read a review written by someone critiquing these home business' and they gave Online business systems a 5 star rating. I didn't dig enough but jumped in. I signed up for everything my mentor suggested. I jumped to supervisor level to get a head start because Karen Winter convinced me this is how you do it and you will be building a fabulous business and "won't my husband be so proud." I spent so much money just to make a few bucks back and I am still paying the credit card off! You buy leads and a website that costs $100 upfront and then $50 just to maintain. Then you send out decision packages that you have to purchase ($50) and then send it out express mail at your expence($17)each. Then you charge people's credit card or debit card through a merchant account that charges you to use it and a fee each time! Through his whole process you aren't making money, just spending it and trusting your guide or mentor to help you make some money. The people from Online business systems kindly wrote a script to get people to sign up under you that you must read to people to convince them to sign up. The ONLY way you make money as a supervisor or distributor is to get your downline to spend THEIR hard earned money on these products and get them to tell the same lies to others so they can sign up and spend THEIR hard earned money. It is the worst kind of scam. It is all smoke and mirrors. I did sign a few people up and I feel so bad that I could not lead them to success in this business venture, but I was losing my shirt trying to help them and in effect, help me recoup my losses. I even flew to flordia for one of their pep rallies and it was a waste of my time and money. If someone didn't sign up or they called me back to yell at me for the lies that were in the script, Karen Winter would call them a "wackjob" and move on. I am sure at the end I was a "wackjob" too. Thanks for nothing Herbalife! I just hope that this is a warning to all the good people out their who are trying to make it in this unstable economy.

I agree with the rest of the Rebuttals.
Herbalife is a great legit company, with great products and people. We are in the business as well as product users.

You treat a home business the way you treat any other business. You have to work the business. You invest in it, you recruit, you sell, you talk to people. It's not going to come to you. It's not a pyramid scheme like some people say it is.

Unfortunately there are bad apples out there that represent Herbalife...but that goes to show you, there are millions of 7-eleven stores, McDonald restaurant owned by different owners, some have great services some bad.

Hello Everyone,

After writing my response a few days ago, I was looking through some of my Online Business Systems (OBS) stuff, and realized that I was in error about them. Herbalife is a good company to be with, and truth be told, OBS is a deicent company as well. The problem is that each company has a few bad apples. I personally do not know this Winters lady, but she has developed quite a reputation on the internet and on these scam sites.

I can also asure you that there was one lady upline in the organization that I am in that left under dubious circumstances, so scammers within the organization are dealt with when they are found.

The only real problem is that I see with the overall program is that I believed that OBS threw everyone on expensive ways of advertising that the people couldn't afford. Really, my thing was that my upline team members didn't realize that I was using a credit card to buy these ad wheel slots and I ran out of credit. If I would have stuck with the retailing first, and had taken the money earned there to re-invest in the ad wheel, I probably would have been in a better position to continue the business.

OBS is not that bad of an organization to belong to. You just have to be willing to break out of some comfort zones (like talking to strangers on the phone and wearing the Herbalife buttons). The bottom line is "If you want things to change, then you have to change, and if you want things to be diferent, then you have to be different."

Herbalife is good-OBS is bad

I just wanted to add my 10 cints. Herbalife is a great company with great products. I have actually lost 35 lbs in four months thanks to their products. However, I have been with Online Business Systems (OBS) for about 4 months. The individuals spend 90 percent of the time telling you how to build a downline, but only 10 percent or less goes into the retailing.

OBS has gotten away from the Mark Hughes (the company founder) philosophy. Mark believed that we should take the time to establish ourselves as distributors and build our respect in the community. This would not guarantee riches immediately, but we would be in the position to obtain riches down the road with a great reputation.

OBS just brings people in and tries to make supervisors. The reason is that if you have 4 people in the 2nd generation downline (four people that your people signed), then you have 1 out of three months for Global Expansion Team and so on Et Nausium.

The people (like myself) who wanted to stay true to Mark Hughes rather than indulge in this jugernaut either supplicated inder the pressure of the upline or were tossed to the wolves.

Again, I would like to close by saying that Herbalife is not the problem, OBS is. If you are interested in Herbalife, then find a distributor that was either a) jaded by OBS and used the teaching aides provided by Herbalife to re-establish the Mark Hughes Philosophy from that distributor's point downward, b) sign with a downline distributor of distributor a, or c) Sign with distributors that have not been touched by OBS at all.

Whatever you do, avoid OBS distributors that follow the OBS way to the letter (just about all of them) like the plague.

I hope this helps.

Gavin

First off i would like to say herbalife is not a get rich quick company, yes you have to work at it, but thats why everyone is mad because they asume they will get $2000 over night. I have to laugh at people that think that.. secound i would like to say yes you have to put some money up to start the buissness around $3000 if you want to be a superviser, but with any buissness you have to spend money to make money, also what the people that are mad at the company dont say is that you get 50% off the retail and when u do sell the products which u will. Maybe not the first month, but as you work at it you can turn a 50% profit on the items you sell.. Third I would like to say that yes you have to take the products to have your very own story, for some its loseing wight for others its just to become healthy. and there is a monthly fee for the web sites, leads and sample packs.. This is not a job its a home based bussiness.. example if you want to buy a franchise its around 50k + home based bussinesses are around 5k thats the diffrence.. im why i am writeing is you see people complaining about herbalife, when in reality they did not work at it, they where wanting somthing for nothing.. come back to reality is all i have to say ......
