Here is my story with the Only1 Prepaid Visa card. Alright so they package they're "reloadit's" like those Visa gift cards that you can spend anywhere, the only difference is, is that Only1 is a scheme to bilk you of all your money and those other services don't. I bought one of these "reloadit's" and when I got home there was no card inside. Turns out you have to buy the card, you can get them at the store as well, for $5 more than a regular Visa gift card. So I called them up because I needed to make an online purchase that day, and I needed a card to do so, the customer service lady was very pleasant and told me it would be no problem. She then told me it would be another $5 activation fee to get the card. I said, "fine." I get online look at my Only1 account and I've been charged a $10 activation fee, plus a $1 customer service fee. Great. I send them an (note: I used their form that works maybe 20% the time) email asking for a refund and begging them not to charge me for the correspondence. I get a response a week later (today) and they tell me to log in to my (non-existent) Jackson Hewitt account to see what they said. How very helpful, thanks so much Only1. By this time I've already received my mistake (the card) in the mail and have been able to make the purchase. Funny that they sent me back a refund response after sending me the card. That couldn't have been planned, could it?

I'm pretty sure that Only1 is a huge scheme to rip off poor people, and they are doing an excellent job. Avoid Only1 like the plague, they are out to bilk you for all you've got.

Totally Opposite Experience

First, I'm sorry that you had that experience. It's awful when anyone purchases a product or service and have a bad experience. But I can honestly say that I've been with Only1 Visa for about a year or so now and I have had nothing but a positive experience. I will say that the website can be a little iffy but other than that, I love my Only1 Visa. As a matter of fact, I'm no longer using my regular credit cards, I just use Only1.

When I first purchased Only1 it came with a temporary card, made out of cardboard or something. That's what was purchased in the store. When I got home, I registered the card and they sent me the actual card (plastic) in the mail. I did not have to pay an additional $5.00. The $5.00 ($4.95) to be exact was charged at the store that I purchased the card. I paid that in addition to the money that I put on the card. If I remember correctly I put $50 on the card at the time of purchase. My total came to $54.95.

As I mentioned, I've had this card for over a year and I've never paid more than $4.95, which I pay every time I add money to the card. There has never been any additional fees, not once. I get the daily e-mails of my account balance and I've never had any problems with the card.

I will have to work out the issues with their website however because I want to use the MoneySheild feature and was told that I have to do that online. And I was told that there is a one time fee of $9.95 to activate the feature.

I think it's a great card and recommend it for anyone that would like to get a better hold on their money and spending.
