I had a very similar experience with OnRebate.com when I bought two systems from TigerDirect. First they make you go through a labyrinthine process to claim your refund, then they ding you for some trivial technicality. They got me for $130. They gave me a chance to re-submit, but I needed the original UPC's, which, of course, I had already sent to them.

You have to admire the sheer brilliance of their scheme. Everyone knows that when you order online, the vendor has all the information they need to verify that you are entitled to a rebate. They have your credit card info, your address, the order, and the tracking info from the delivery service. Yet they still make you go through an absurd process of downloading documents, filling them out and attaching UPC's. They claim it's required by the mfr, but the only possible purpose it can serve is to waste your time and give them a reason to deny your claim.

Don't do rebates!!!
