My Mother is 84 years old with a form of alzheimer's disease and was spending hours each day going over junk mail and sweepstakes letters informing her that she was a "potiental" winner of great sums of money. She believed this and was sending them requested money in order to win. We pleaded with her to not send any money to them, but she did it anyway thinking that she was going to win some money. She is living on Social Security and has high medical bills and could not afford to send this money.

The scam artists sent her two or three letters each day to get more out of her. She did not know the difference and mailed them checks that she didn't need to.

They preyed on old people and the Post Office said that there was nothing that they could do to stop it. There should be a law against it and the guilty companies should have to answer to it.

I am listing some of the companies that have taken advantage of her:

Opportunities Unlimited Publications, Inc.
1401 Armour Road
North Kansas City, Mo 64116-3763

Contest America Publishers
P.O. Box 169001
North Kansas City, MO 64116-8001

Department Of Sweepstakes
National Cancer Coalition
Processing and Accounting Desk
P.O. Box 8910
Topeka, KS 66608-8910

Sweepstakes Award Committee
P.O. Box 85071
Richmond, VA 23285-5071

There are many others, but Do not have room to list them. Thanks for any help that you can give in warning others that these people are just taking old people's money and laughing all the way to the bank. It really should be against the law, but old people fall victim to a lot of others scams also. These old people are confused and need money and think that they are going to get some. If you need more names and addresses, please contact me.

Thanks.
