Complaint Review: Optus Corporation

The company is a front for a scam to get companies to pay for a research report that they did not ask for or subscribe to. Their MO is to send an official-looking invoice (for $4,750!!!) to Accounts Payable with the name of a company official as the purchaser, apparently with the hope that AP will just go ahead and process it without asking around.

I called the number listed to find out what the deal was; heck, maybe this purported research report was even useful.  No answers on several tries, and their website has absolutely no concrete information about what they do or the referenced research report.  Completely fishy.

It is worth noting that we got the same invoice last year from Optus (again, for a research report we did not ask for; in fact, we've never been in contact with or heard of Optus), but from a different business address, in a different state (Long Island, NY). So clearly they move around to keep ahead of whistle-blowers and likely even the law.

Stay away from this outfit!
