My husband and I purchased the timeshare from Cooper Properties in Orange Beach, Alabama when I visited from a friend's invitation. When we decided to purchase the property, we were promised a free weekend to come back to Orange Beach, free maintenance fees for 2 years and a free weekend in Galveston, TX. We signed the papers, as this was our first time buying property with faith that this company would honor their word from the salesman. However, we found this to be untrue. We called the office in Orange Beach and was told the person that sold us this property was no longer with the company and they would not honor what he said. We were planning to make the trip we were promised. but that was denied also. We found the 1st year's maintenance fees were not paid. We started receiving calls monthly. I was furious and it has been down hill since .
When the property ownership changed to Capital Management, we were not informed until after it happened. The company kept deducting from my account but still sent late notices about every 6 months because they said I was not paying. They had to wait 6 months for the $15 over the amount that was due to accumulate to more than $50. I would pay because of the calls. 5 times I was told that when they took over the payment, the monthly amount was incorrectly keyed and they would correct. However, in the end, to keep my credit, I had to pay the over amount. The payment was $132 and they keyed $152. When I paid this mortgage for the property out, I was told that I would get a credit because they found this. Never happened! When they called for the maintenance fees, I asked my credit be applied to the fees. Never happened. No callbacks, they just kept my money!
The people talk with you as if you are crazy. We have never visited the properties since we purchased about 10 years ago. All we do is pay the fees. This is a sorry piece of mess and if anyone wants to purchase from them, you better get blood!
