MAJOR RIPOFF ATISTS!?
My 87 year-old-father was just duped into buying a 3-year maintenance agreement with American Home Maintenance on his air conditioner. This agreement is based on telling him that an AC Check costs $89.95, a Condenser Coil Cleaning costs $246 and an Evap Coil Cleaning costs $246. As an exercise, I called AMHI and asked what a check up, condenser and evap coil cleaning would cost me on the exact same unit and was told the check up would cost $59.95, and each coil cleaning would cost $165.
I was also told these coil cleanings only need be done every 18 - 24 months. AMHI has been cleaning the coils on my Dad's AC unit religiously every 6 months for the last 6 years at a supposed cost of $246 each. So, my Dad is naturally, renewed his contract with a 3-year maintenance contract @ $499 that promises among other things: A safer home, greater energy savings, enhanced comfort, special offers, bulk discounts, free annual a/c check, anytime $39 service diagnosis fee, 20% off all replacement ...
