In December 2002 I called Orchard Bank for a Pay-off amount for my account. I was told they could significantly drop my actual balance and cut me a 60% deal that would close the account and yield me a Zero balance. After waiting 2 months for this to be processed, I started receiving calls regarding a balance on my account and they wanted more money.

I explained the situation to the representative from Orchard Bank and he tracked back in my records that I was in fact correct. I was told that this will be straightened out with the account and was given a contact person to call if I had any more difficulty with the account.

The next week I received a call again, saying that I owed on the account, I went through the explaination again that the account was "Payed-off" at 60% and I should be receiving a zero balance statement, and it has been 2 months since this process started.

I could not get in touch with the contact person, who was supposedly a "Unit manager", I got nothing but aggrivation, hung-up on and nowhere, except but to end all ties with Orchard Bank/Household Credit Services by sending a final check for the amount they said would zero out my account.

I did this, sent it Priority Mail and Receipt Confirmation. Called in to report the payment has been sent and made sure I got in touch with someone whose First and Last Name I had & had spoken with prior to sending in this "final" amount.

Get names, record your conversations if you can and/or make notes of all dates and names you have, the Bank does this and hires obvious bottom-feeder "Customer Representatives".
