Well, the only difference between Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) vs. any other "walk-in" clinic is the overly tattooed and pierced, and not to mention LOUD staff. Wow. We'll get to this in a minute here. First thing's first....

Arrived here one day on the week of 4/16 to get help with severe abdominal pain after being dismissed by a local emergency room doctor a few days prior. Called this clinic AHEAD of time, as to inquire into if the facility uses IV fluids. I specifially noted why I needed IV fluids to treat a chronic medical condition. "Yeah, come on in," said the gal on the phone. "Just be sure to arrive before 7:00 pm." I walk in around 4pm and stand in line. The staff are so loud, that I can actually hear the personal information of the person standing in front of me. Great. That mean's the person behind me, can likely hear MY info, so I had to whisper.

Well, even though I whsiper, doesnt' mean the other staff member isn't going to repeat exactly what I tell her back three times as loud. She was nice, but, perhaps should have been a cheerleading coach, not a receptionist at a medical clinic. Oy.

I wait in the waiting room on some flimsy, uncomfortable chairs. Meh.

Get called in, go to a private room, and describe the pain. The first doctor did a thorough exam, so that was a plus. But, she is and was the only decent person working there. We get to my pain scale, and my abdomen is clearly distended. The doc leaves. I think I am going to rest, then some s*****e "nurse" comes in just clompping and making demands after I had just fallen asleep . While I was half asleep, she drew my blood, which I didn't appreciate! I felt violated. Then, I went back to sleep. Minutes later the s*****e comes in and makes more demands, "We didn't get a urine sample from you yet - we need a urine sample."

Geez. Hang the eff on. I am in excruciating pain. I specifically TOLD you I need IV fluids because I know about my medical condition - more than you!. You aren't hooking me up to an IV, so I have to rest because I literally cannot walk.

You still demand my pee while I am in immense pain. I cannot transfer the pain to you, so you think I am just lazy and not getting up. You really want that pee, though...Dear Lord!

Finally, I adhere to the wench s*****e nurse's demands. If she's that irate over some pee, not sure how she handles her car breaking down.

Here's your pee, lady - you good?

I try to go back to sleep, then the doc I thought was my alli give me some anti-nausea medication, Zofran. One can read about Zofran here: http://www.rxlist.com/zofran-drug.htm. One of my main concerns which I later read of is that, "The active ingredient in ZOFRAN ODT® Orally Disintegrating Tablets is ondansetron base, the racemic form of ondansetron, and a selective blocking agent of the serotonin 5-HT3 receptor type."

Great! I'm in pain, and you are blocking my serotonin.  So, now I'm in pain and "depressed." Naturally, you will probably try to weasel me over to the "behavioral health" clinic just next door. I don't think so, sorry.

Business as usual, oy to the oy.

I know from experience, that anti-nausea medication makes me nauseous, ironic eh? Not really. So all day, the next day I am sick as a dog. Just from one shitty pill. I have a clean gut, so that crap affects me. The head doctor tries to perscribe me more anti-nausea medication. Really?

Back to fasting and resting - sleep and water can do a great deal to clean one's system. But,due to  my specific medical condition, it is difficult if I fast sans the IV fluids - which is why I came in to that specific clinic. I feel like I was talking to a brick wall the whole time.

When I exit, the main doctor does want to send me to a hospital to get imaging. Fair enough - she's doing her due dilligence. But, I have been walking a lot lately - and politely inquired into a bus ticket Some overly tattooed gossipy medical assistant makes some demands onto her front desk person, and gets me one bus ticket. I ask her of the duration and she said it was "all day." Nope. It was a 2.5 hour ticket.

The lights are on, but no one is home. You have all these tattoos but no class, manners, etiquitte, empathy, decency you know, traits that would help your profession. You make demands onto the front desk lady, who can't stand up for herself because she will probably lose her job.

The whole culture here really is just that, "demands" upon "demands." Stay at home and rest and get some home nurse if you can afford it.
