I am reporting an individual and a company that is deliberately misrepresenting the earnings potential of this position.

I also believe this company is structured in a way to only benefit the company and not any of the independent contractors who are intended to generate all of the business.

I applied to a job posting on indeed.com/.

The posting reads:

HUNTERS ONLY, $100K TO 250K. Average will earn 100K, stars will earn 250K. Don't even call unless you are truly awesome salesperson. You have a burning desire to succeed, are extremely client oriented, highly motivated and never say die. You develop deep meaningful rapport with clients and communicate with piercing persuasiveness. You believe you can be the best at almost anything you do and can prove it. Don't call unless you fit this bill. Outstanding commission structure and bonus great and great opportunity for upward mobility. Build an empire within our fine progressive company. We are looking people to sell Solar Racking. We offer world class sales training. We don't hire backgrounds, we hire top producers. Please visit Orion Solar Racking @ www.orionsolarracking.com.

For starters it's not my style to register a complaint in general but I've grown rather tiresome of individuals and companies misrepresenting job positions with no factual information.

I would hate to see someone start out with this company under a false sense of income potential and long term residual growth just to be turned and burned.

I interviewed with Dr. John Oda of Orion Solar Racking in Commerce, California. The experience was less than impressive.

Dr. Oda talks a big game but if you ask specific questions there is not much substance behind it.

After meeting with Dr. John Oda in person a second individual joined the conversation, Ahmet Akman, Vice President of Operations.

My initial impression of Ahmet was he was honest and thorough.

I also believe that Oda and Ahmet were not on the same page because a lot of contradicting information suddenly became available.

In the posting it claims "Average sales representatives will earn 100k, stars will earn 250k."

These numbers are 100% fictitious pulled out of the thin air...

I found out that there are only two sales representatives that are currently working for the company.

Neither one of the two representatives are making over $75,000.

They have been with the company for two years.

During our initial phone interview Oda boasted that the company was closing a $10 million dollar deal within a few days.

He also claimed that he projected the company would do $20 million in revenue this year.

The truth is that last year the company had $3 million dollars in revenue.

They were hoping to be on track to do $6 million this year although it sounded unlikely.

A far cry from $20 or even $10 million.

As stated on the advertisement Oda promises "We offer world class sales training."

This translates into a two day training program where they teach you everything you need to know about solar racking.

Anyone who works in solar or technology should find that absolutely ridiculous.

The job is 100% commission. The average deal takes a minimum of two months to deliver.

The company does not have territories to protect their sales representatives.

There is no contact management system to keep track of which representative generated which client.

There is no lead generation.

They want you to just simply go out and start contacting new potential clients after their “World Class” 2 day training.

If you happen to find a new client who wants to make a purchase, you simply bring it to Oda or Ahmet and they will tell you if they already had a pre-existing relationship with that client or not.

If they do, the deal is not valid.  I guess you will have to just take their word for it.

After my experience with Oda and Orion Racking has zero credibility.

My belief is that they are bringing in anyone who will listen and promising them unrealistic and unsubstantiated income potential.

Any sales generated ends up with company and the representative eventually quits with nothing.
